Why dial a rifle bore within .0001"

I have been keeping a tab on this thread for awhile now. I try not to get involved on these sites, but I thought it might be beneficial to make a comment on this one. While I am certain my father hasn't handled every situation perfectly, I do believe he has had some of the best costumer service...

    Nosler Longrange Accubond

I agree with your statement. In my original post, I wasn't looking for the bullet that had the most knock down power, I am looking for a bullet that can retain it's energy through a shoulder shot, and continue into the Heart and Lungs, and out the other shoulder at short range without blowing up...

I love those XP's. That might be one of my next personal projects. I would think after hitting a shoulder, the bullet would expand pretty rapidly. Although it is good to see that it didn't blow up upon impact at that high of velocity.

That is great to hear. Hopefully someone has some experience with them at close range on elk.

Yes I have read that thread, a couple times actually. You won't hear me argue that Berger's do some pretty impressive damage to vitals. What I don't like about those bullets though, is what happens when you hit a shoulder at Close Range. At longer distances when the bullet has lost velocity...

I would also like to see that. I wonder what weight retention is.

So they must shoot close enough you don't notice a difference, or you have your gun zeroed for the Amax? This might be what route I choose. I absolutely love the partition. That is until any amount of wind kicks up and the shot is over 400 yards ;)

I have considered using two bullets for hunting, and that very well could be what I end up doing. I don't think you can find a bullet that can truly be used for both short range and long range, and have the bullet perform how I want it to. eshorebwhntr : I agree with your statement, I do think...

    Nosler Longrange Accubond

Funny you should mention that. Last weekend I loaded up some 200 grain partitions, and the 200 Grain Berger Hybrids I had been shooting to see how close Point of Impact was between the two. It was within a half an inch. I have debated keeping my gun sighted in dead on for the bergers, but...

I have heard similar reports on the Accubonds, but on smaller calibers. I would have thought a 200 grain Accubond would break through a shoulder. I think I'll just have to try the LRAB and see for myself. Carson

Sorry, I should have been more clear on the details. He took 1 shot at 300 yards, through the shoulder, (I was there so I saw both shots) the doe went down, but still had it's head up looking around, so he shot it a second time with it facing away from him in the back of the head. Looked like...

Good info. The bullet's performance on your buck is what has me a little worried. Maybe the 200 Grain Accubond would be a little better suited for what I need it for. Anyone have any experience on game with them at longer ranges? Carson

I haven't tried the Accubonds yet. I might get a box of those as well and do some experimenting. Did you have any experience with it past 600 yards? I just am not impressed with Berger's close range. They are great out past 500 yards, but not every shot is going to be a long range shot. My...

Do you have a link to that thread? "Take a look at the 200 gr Accubond. With a .588 b.c and bonded core it makes for a very good "compromise" hunting bullet." I have thought about trying that bullet, if this bullet doesn't work out that will be next on the list. Jimbires- I have...

    Nosler Longrange Accubond

Hi Guys, Before you rip me apart for not doing a custom search in the top right corner, let me clarify what I'm looking for. I have done more research on this bullet than most people, and keep seeing the same thing over and over. Over estimated BC, Decent accuracy, and retains decent weight...
