I could gravitated to a heavier 223 load for my current 1:8 barrel for longer ranges. Then build another upper in 223 with a slower twist and lighter bullets for the medium ranges. Maybe pick up a 17hmr along the way too. Does this seem like a good starting point to get out there and get started?

My current upper isn’t finished yet. Still waiting on backordered bcg and scope. I have yet to try anything in it. Are bullets coming apart in 1:8 a real thing at 223 velocities?

The valkyrie is a good idea. What is the difference between that and the 22 arc? They seem to be on an equal playing field.

I’d like to stick to the AR platform for now. Nothing against bolt actions. Just want to be able to swap uppers for now.

This sounds like a sport that takes years to acquire all the gear for.
