  • Hi Adam, sorry about not answering sooner, and yes about 5 1/2 lbs bare, my grandson has been using it on his last two hunts, two head shot fallow at 120 and 170m, he's 11 and fairly lightly built and has no problems with recoil or carrying it. Velocities are 2600fps with 140 Amax over 39.5gns of 2209, or 39 gns RL17, groups are consistantly 0.5moa or better. With the the 120 Amax and 41.5 gns 2209 sub 0.5moa, going up a little to 42gns = 1.5moa, however the best load with the 120 Amax seems to be 39gns 2208 at 2800fps, which gave consistant 0.3moa groups. The 123 Sierras seem to be a bit of mystery and I haven't got them under 1moa yet, and the 123 Amax don't seem to do much better than 0.75moa with either 2208 or 2209, however 123 Scenars do 0.4 or better with 40gns RL17. I haven't chronographed that load but expect it to be doing around 2800.
    regards

John, noticed your Model 7 6.5x47 Lap build.

Can you please send me some details about barrel weight (I'm assuming a stainless #4) and what velocities you are getting (if you know).

I've just bought a Model 7 for my young bloke and since I've already got 3 x 6.5x47 Lapua rifles (Rem 700 target, Win70 target, Ruger No.1RSI hunter) another one seems like a good idea. It strikes me that your rifle would go 5.5lb bare, is this about right?

    Cheers,

    Adam
