    300 WM OAL Question

Re: OAL Doesn\'t Matter Well, I guess in this case the OAL variance doesn't affect the grouping. Finally got to shoot yesterday and had a 3/8" 3 shot group at 100 yds. Second group was 3/4" but I called the first shot pulled to the left - #2 and #3 almost touching. Load was 150gr AccuBond and...

    300 WM OAL Question

Why does the OAL of my loads vary ? Loaded 9 rounds and random check of lengths were : 3.753, 3.749, 3.746, 3.744. Componants were: R-P cases, 150 gr AccuBond, RCBS dies, Stoney Point OAL gauge(the one with the adapter that mounts on the calipers and you slid the loaded round into the adapter -...

Case Base Expansion as High Pressure Sign

Where do you measure a case base(25-06) - just as it begins to rebate? Is this a good indicator of pressure ? How much should it expand after firing - I have been told .005 indicates high pressure. Working up a load with 115 gr. Triple-Shocks and am at 1.5 grains over max - case base measures...

    Pillar Bedding

I just traded for a Win 70 XTR Sporter. I want to pillar bed the stock but have never done one before. Looking at the back screw hole it looks like there is not enough wood at the top of the stock . Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated.

    25-06 Problem

I appreciate you guys taking the time to respond. When I got this rifle it had a factory stock - it shot around 1" with Hornady ammo. I did not try my handloads when it was in the original Winchester stock(dah!). What I have done is put the barreled action back in the factory wood stock -...

    25-06 Problem

Shooting a 25-06 and groups are 3 to 4 inches at 100yds. They are in line at about a 45 degree angle. Is this an indication of bedding in the stock or is it the load ?

I have used the following 300 mag load to take a number of whitetails. This Sierra bullet is more heavily constructed than their softpoint round of the same weight - this per the tech's at Sierra. Me and a hunting buddy have also used this bullet in 30-06. We were very please with accuracy and...
