Pulled pork from a wild hog... your experience?

I agree, low and slow in the temp. Wild hog will dry out badly if too much heat is used. Young females are best for avoiding rank taste. Mixing in some domestic pork, fatter the better, will help with flavor and moisture.

    Bullet RPM and performance

Bullet RPM's are the result of the combination of twist rate and muzzle velocity. A heavier bullet fired from the same case will likely have less velocity, and therefore may require a faster twist rate to achieve sufficient RPM's to be stable. For the same reason a lighter bullet fired from...

Best 6.5 CM Hunting Bullet for Moderate Long Range Distances

I have used Barnes TTSX and now Barnes 127 LRX with excellent results in 6.5 CM and 260 R. For those cartridges in mono bullets the 120-130gr seems to work better. With 140+ bullets you give up velocity for mass. With mono bullets the performance seems to depend more on velocity and less on...

    Savage accutrigger issues

Good point rshunter. Triggers that are not reliable and predictable are not something to experiment with. A quality replacement is often the safest solution.

    Savage accutrigger issues

At a minimum I would replace that trigger. Unless you are experienced with trigger work I would have someone who is repair it or check your repairs. A faulty firing mechanism on any gun is a tragedy looking for a place to happen.

    6.5 creedmoor to 6.5 grendel

I have never used the Grendel. If you want an AR15 round with more punch than the 223 look at the 224 Valkrie. A 75 gr bullet leaves the muzzle at 3000+fps. Hornady and Barnes, as well as others I am sure, make bullets in the 70 to 80 gr for that round. It is accurate and has virtually no...

    Norma Brass

I reload for my AR15s and a couple of them ding the case mouth like that when they eject. They resize just fine. If they are too bad I just toss them in the brass bucket and move on. I've thrown away a lot more money than a handful of brass costs on things a lot less worthy. lol

    Norma Brass

I always full length resize new brass. Often it also needs deburring as it appears this does and check primer pockets for burrs and filings. I would check the case length as well but length will probably be ok. Dings like that are not what you like to see but a few are pretty common from...

    Ruger Ar-556 Trajectory Problem

100% dead on. Until exact actual muzzle velocity is known, not guessed, all the other data is just random numbers that could mean a lot of things or nothing.

    Ruger Ar-556 Trajectory Problem

I agree and would add that if you use 223 load data many of those loads are based on test barrels. When you go to a gas gun aka AR15 velocity will often be significantly less than load data estimates. Velocity can also be significantly affected by the gas block used. The only way I have found...

?? Wonder if I made a bad choice

Based on the terrain described, lots of tall grass and scrubby brush is possible that an unseen twig deflected the bullet causing a miss. A slight tweak from a twig can cause enough deflection to miss by several feet.

Who is making a lightweight stock for savage

Boyds makes a very good laminate stock in several styles. I have used several and all were great fit. You can bed them of course but usually not necessary especially for a hunting rifle.
