Solid offer to pass along quality brass. Paying it forward….good on ya.
My scope bite was a .300 Weatherby. Had a 300 Weatherby on the original Mauser action, purchased used when I was 16 y/o. It was my hunting rifle until someone broke into my house when I was 23….

With powder supplies being what they are, and I have an 8 # jug of RL 26, my only problem is temperature. I shoot the 22-250 mostly for squirrels and that’s a summer venture. Thoughts? And what twist are your rifles that like 75 bullets?
^^^ 100% spot on. Mine came back, barrel was not removed and turned back. i have head space issues. I have to fireform all brass, even 280AI brass. Shoulder moves .oo6 forward first firing, then stable. Working around the problem , just a PITA.
Good luck on your build. Very tolerable rifle...
Following this thread and want to get ^ this concept straight.
So for example, with a heavier long bullet that seats past the shoulder/neck junction, since the neck is only partial sized, the bullet will not be in contact with the case... would that be correct?
The 280 Rem factory ammo is the ones I’ve had fail to fire. All of my fire form cases that I seat the bullet touching the rifling have fired and formed correctly. I’ve now shot new Nosler 280AI brass, and it measures the exact same shoulder datum as fired 280 Rem brass that I loaded. All new...
Fire forming plus one reload, no further shoulder movement. I’ll probably be extra attentive with my notes on this rifle.
BTW. The original gunsmith was a shop with multiple smiths working in it. I spoke with the actual gunsmith that worked on my gun. He straight up said, “ if your not...
I make a dummie round at zero off the lands for each bullet I load. So, it’s easy to set it into the rifling. Did this today. Cases all moved the shoulder forward .oo6. Length of case stayed the same.
Agree. My local guy said exactly that. And I might do that. I have Peterson’s brass arriving in a couple of days. It comes annealed I think. I may just fire form it, and use a Lee collet die and watch the shoulder to make sure it’s stable. If after the second firing it’s stable, I should be...
At this time, that’s my plan. I’d had a marginal time finding a load Up to this point. If I can’t make it run, I‘ll chalk it up to experience and start over with a better barrel. I’ll get fresh new brass and basically fire form it. Hopefully I can find an accurate lower pressure load, hot...
Shep- This ^ seems to make the best logic. Video that Seebeeken posted I watched last night. Just off the phone with gunsmith #3, Jim at Elite Rifle works here in Idaho. Our conversation went almost exactly down the line as your post above 25SWM.
thanks all for the input on this one. I have...
