I'm not trying to go 50 to 1000+. I know that's unrealistic. I'll invest in an extreme long range rifle down the road if I feel that could be a niche of mine. I would however like to be capable of reaching out from 50 to, say, 700 (hunting range) with crystal clear precision.
Well, wisdom is more of a strength than physical endurance, so I'm sure you're doin alright ;)
Thanks for the advice. Maybe I should save up for longer and get a nightforce scope. It's tempting to drop 3 grand plus on a rifle setup knowing the right one could serve me well, putting meat on...
Ehh, scope weight is quite negligible to me. I'm a strong fella. Id carry a 2+ lb scope if it'd give me perfection in what I need. Which is:
Capability of viewing a critter who creeps into view 50 yds away, while simultaneously being able to push range limits as far as possible, while making as...
I just came across the CZ UHR. And after reading of some people's respect for the company, and the gun's MOA guarantee to 600 yds out of the box.. that is incredibly enticing. Do you guys know anything about this gun? Have any opinions?
Hey all
I'm investing in my first rifle and, because I'm not going to be able to buy another one anytime soon, I want it to serve a couple purposes for a few years while I develop my skills. First and foremost, the scope needs to be well suited to hunting. Light and clear. Secondly, I want it...
Okay, I'm for sure going with the R700 5R. Now I just need to find the proper scope for it. Mudrunner, that one you suggested is FFP. Doesn't that produce a sort of hindrance at long range because the reticle expands with magnification? That's just what I've read, obviously.. I have no true...
Jrock-Red hawk was a great tip. Nicely priced offerings.
Dmj-thanks for pointing out the trigger importance. I was slightly under rating that mod. But you're definitely right. Tis a big deal.
Mudrunner your advice has been invaluable. I was already very interested in 5R and I think I'll...
Oh yeah, and I live in Colorado. In the mountains outside of Boulder. If that helps with any semi/custom suggestions. Local is always better. Or if anyone on here is local to me and could show me the area's resources that'd be even greater!
First off, thanks for all your quick replies! This site rocks.
I wish I had the luxury of buying two rifles! My budget is "high" because I want a rifle that is outstanding and virtually the only hunting rifle I will need. Getting two would take away from both.
Mudrunner, that's a great...
Greetings my most knowledgeable compadres..
I'm new to rifles. I've bird hunted my whole life, and am pretty handy with a sidearm, but the one thing I've never done much of in my life is rifle shooting. No one in my family ever hunted for four-legged game.
Now, I'm not coming in to these...
