    Best Pod casts?

I'm surprised only one mention for Rifles Only Accuracy Podcast. I've listened to every episode. Mostly about shooting and just a bit of hunting but still good. Occasionally Modern Day Sniper, again mostly shooting not much on hunting topics Totally unrelated, History That Doesn't Suck is an...

    Mid-level tripod?

Not sure which version of the death-grip you have. I've been using one for about 2 months now. The one I have is already arca compatible. the saddle part comes off and there is an arca compatible portion. It also has 1/4 turn locking on the legs. So far, I like it pretty well and it wasn't...

Any places to shoot long range in Virginia?

BearSwamp in Suffolk is expanding. right now they have rifle ranges to about 550yds but are building out to 800yds with plans on even more distance. I did a rifle class there not long ago, and the folks were real nice too.

    Bog fieldpod vs deathgrip sturdiness

I recently got the BOG Deathgrip Infinite. I looked at the field pod but the long axis where the rifle mounts made it seem cumbersome to transport in/on a back pack. With the Deathgrip the clamping head is held onto the ball head with an arca system. so if you have an arca rail on your rifle...

    New guy from NC/VA

I'm not much of a wing shooter. but I have chased whitetails from the eastern shore to the Kentucky line from Martinsville to Charlottesville. Now I have a small place near the Blue Ridge Parkway that's all mine. But next year I'm taking a guy out to the big woods in Wise Co. near Pound...

    wounding deer

I totally agree, I was even going to start a thread about that situation. seeing a wounded deer on a hunt. do you put it down and use your tag or let it walk and keep your tag for that trophy. Where I live you get 6 deer tags and bonus tags are easy to buy over the counter. I would put down the...

    wounding deer

I agree with your assessment. I have friends, a married couple, who are new to hunting this year, sent them this photo for a learning opportunity so they don't try to take shots they aren't sure of. Too late to fume over it but hopefully someone learns something about restraint from it. Even if...

    wounding deer

So, Muzzle loader season opened yesterday. I couldn't get to the hunting property til today and won't be able to hunt til probably wed. I pulled the cards from the cameras and saw this photo. I have several preseason photos of this buck. He is a very nice buck for the area and someone...

    Virginia gunsmith

I had Mike at Hogs Tooth Precision blueprint and re-barrel My Rem700 while he was at it I had him thread the muzzle. That rifle shoots pretty decent. His shop is in Virginia Beach.

Is all of that still strictly necessary when I'm mag feeding the rifle? I have an Well, as luck would have it I just picked up a new lightweight hunting rifle that I can try the way you describe. Then I can see if one method is faster/easier for me.

Is all that strictly necessary if I'm mag feeding the rifle? I have a Hornady OAL gauge and have used the "Wheeler method" for finding lands before. I'm all for learning from the process but are the extra components worth the education I get from the endeavor if I'm not really going to use the...
