Steel Targets, chain v conveyer belt?

I manage a range with a lot of swinging steel. All hung on hard chain used to tie loads down. Bolts are three inches long with lock nuts. Do not tighten to steel. Just tighten nut enough to hold. This gives your plate a bit of angle backwards. Other than the occasional bolt head getting...

    flute my own barrel

I have a mill in my farm shop and have a few skills. Can I, or should I flute my own barrel? Maybe they have to be done before rifling or chambering. Any thoughts on the project?

    Looking for 6.5x303 reamer

Go to the forum Canadiangunnutz.com. Ask about EPP there. He was a big time gun smith and dealer in Ontario years back and there will be more info about his reamers available here.

    Who here is a pilot?

I have a comm. fixed wing licence. I have owned a C188 and a DeHavilland Beaver. Both were a lot of fun. I have spent several hundred hours in choppers (passenger) and thought of getting my licence but had spent 10 years in the Arctic already and that is where the chopper jobs are. My dream...

    .300 wsm abolt help needed

I am also in the middle of developing a load for my 300 WSM. So far RL 17 seems best (as some one else already suggested.) I am using CCI primers and Berger 185 hybrids. Best so far is 5 shots/ 3.25 in at 400 yards. Next calm day I am going to try out to 6-800.

    Biggest coyote I've shot yet.

You can hunt coyotes in Alberta with a guide. You can not hunt coyote in Sask / only residents allowed to shoot coyotes here. Also; all firearms laws are countrywide here so effectively no difference prov to prov. Hunting regs do change though.

    Longest .17HMR kill?

My best 17 HMR shot was 269 measured yards on a gopher (ground squirrel) About a 3-5 mile wind, held on his tail and hit in the head. Used my CZ varmint and 20 grainers.

    Guns across boarder

I have about 40 hunting clients a year. Just register your long guns at the border. Ship the pistols. There has never been a problem with quantity of ammo. Maybe not a few hundred thousand though. All countries have some curious laws. Here we can have a shotgun with a 12 inch barrel as long...

    Biggest coyote I've shot yet.

Great shot. Hard to get one past the mid 30 lb range. Is that a Boyds tactical stock?

    stainless galling

My 77/22 stainless with about 75000 rounds is galling. About half the circumference of the bolt in front of the handle is galled. Also inside the receiver. Anyone else had this problem? Is it worth fixing?

    Deep snow & very cold?

Up here it is often cold but not a lot of snow. When there is deep snow I use snowshoes. I also think coyotes don't move as much in deep snow. Just go for a walk with your dog and see how soon he starts using your track. Perhaps the biggest coyote I ever got was in deep snow , wind and 30 below...

    bullet depth into cartridge

I just got a 300 WSM and have been checking out loads. Nosler 220 grains will be one of my choices. How deep can they be seated in to the cartridge without being dangerous? It looks like they will be well into the case past the neck. a man can never have to many guns but one wife is just right
