If you look around you should be able to get the actual PDF that tells literally everything there is to know about this round. The max working pressure allowed under variance of pressure is somewhere around 78kpsi ...77 or 78...pretty insane.

I have to admit, a .257 heavy that requires a non-standard "tight" twist would be _WONDERFUL_ !! A 6.5 heavy would be seriously sweet as well :)

Win brass has the larger Swede type measurement like Lapua does. Remington 6.5x55 has .473 head. I have Norma, Lapua, Win, and Rem brass with 6.5x55 headstamp and all of it will run through my Savage 111 without any issues what so ever. No need to over think this.

One thing I rarely see mentioned is Recoil induced Flinch due to "Magnum Bite". One reason to go 308 Win. is the substantially reduced recoil. In order to get good at LR shooting you need to Practice, Practice and Practice some more.... a 300 Win Mag can quickly take a toll in this type of...

The 8 twist will toss the Sierra 107 SMK's downrange with Varget pretty well. They even do a decent job on most varmints. Now, they do not usually do the Red Mist... :) As for a 22-24, mine happens to be 26. I have recently vowed my next hunting build will be a REASONABLE weight and *HANDI* :)...

Are you going to smith this yourself? If not, that bartlein barrel is about as good as it gets if the price meets your pocketbook. Bullet weights... heh :) 123 Hornady, 129, hornady, 130 berger, 140 several... Barrel length and weight... For handi-hunting I would actually go with a 20"...
