I sold a new Nosler 48, 280 Ackley, owner said it shot great but empty brass would stick in chamber for about 8-10 seconds before releasing. I sent it back to Nosler and they are replacing the barrel. Customer Service very good to deal with.
The 308 VTR I am working on has .200 bullet jump with factory shells. And the owner is wanting to shoot light bullets. Sierra 135 gr. HP has .030 jump using mag length. Barrel should be shortened and moved back, but do not believe the gun is worth that expense.

A perfectly made set of rings may not require lapping but that does not mean the mounts or the receiver was prepped correctly! You lap the rings to correct other problems a lot of the time! I find about 80 to 90 percent require some amount of lapping!
Even though the 30-06 is a great caliber, Your nephew would really appreciate a 25-06 barrel on that rifle! That’s what I finally did with my first BDL 30-06, just got tired of it kicking me so hard!!!
