My Creed seems to like about 2900fps MV for the 127LRX (24 inch Brux 1 in 8). You might try upping the velocity a bit if your rifle/powder will get there.
Yes you can have too much of a good thing IMHO. Putting a 32oz scope on a 6lb rifle sounds silly to me but to each his own. Also the type of shots that you anticipate may mean that you have too much magnification as scrmblr said above. For some of the hunting situations 4x is too much BTDT.
LVJ76,
You can go over to Texas and hunt pronghorn. Not a bad drive and you don't have to draw like AZ.
Mark,
Argentina is a good alternative to NZ for red stag. You can get either estate or free range. The best hunt I ever did was with Algar in Patagonia.
Just curious of how many shots your load development was based on? I've had some really good 5 shot groups during load development and never was able to duplicate them again. Must have just been lucky or a fluke. It's like shooting 3 times over a chronograph, statistically it doesn't mean much...
They don't go down like the typical whitetail. To give some perspective they are about the size of a Clydesdale, close to a ton. Sure fill up the back of a pickup!
You need to chrono that load. Also it appears the pressure is way over when you reach the gas port.
I see N135 is close to 4895 but something is wrong.
I have noticed the same phenomena with year or 2 old reloads. I now only load what I am going to use for a particular hunt/season with a few extras. My theory is that the brass/bullet junction either develops some corrosion or weld if you want and either changes the internal ballistics similar...
Yes and 2 inches longer should put a few ounces forward. The barrel should show up in the next month or so since it was ordered in February so will find out soon.
I have a Kimber Super America that is waiting on a new barrel. Not really a custom, just a new barrel and tune up. Went from 308 OEM barrel to 24 inch 6.5 Creedmoor. Hoping it doesn't come out too heavy.
