Bipod Help

I'm looking at getting an extended bipod for my hunting rig. I'm torn on what to get. Any advice and input would be welcome. I'm looking at either the Harris 12-25 or 13.5-27... Or the Blackhawk Sportster Traversing bipod 13-23".

Harris makes nice stuff, but I really like the traversing feature of the Blackhawk.

Any positive or negative effects while hunting?

Frankly, except for the traversing feature on the Blackhawk, I don't think there's ten cents worth of difference between them. The Harris "S" series has a swivel feature that I believe does the same job as the Blackhawks traversing mechanics, but Harris tends to be more expensive. I'm a Harris bipod owner, but I don't see any reason to buy the Harris if you like the Blackhawk better - go for it.
Caveat - when you're on target and having to move laterally to maintain alignment as you swivel on the bipod, there are all sorts of sources (most of them physical) that can dramatically affect your shot. Makes me wonder if the traversing idea is as good as it looks.

I have two Harris S-Bipods, the 6-9 and the 13.5-27. I use the 6-9 primarily for shooting off the bench and the 13.5-27 for all types of hunting. I am very happy with them. One of the best investments I've made cost/benefit wise. I wouldn't dream of going hunting without it now, especially coyote hunting. I've used a Caldwell and even bought my brother a Blackhawk. Both work and are fine, but I still prefer my Harris over both. I will say the Blackhawk feels pretty solid, more so than the Caldwell I've used. One thing, you might find the 23" height on the Blackhawk a little short. Depending on where I'm sitting and how I'm situated, I need all 27" of the Harris. Either brand will serve you well.....far better than free hand or shooting sticks.

I too owns Harris bipods but recently purchased a Blackhawk 6-9" for my wife's AR and am very please thus far. No experience with it afield but looks promising.

I use Harris, but I noticed last summer it was very hot and on my tc venture that groups went crazy come to find out that between the heavy scope and hot weather my forearm flexed enough while it was resting on the bipod that was hittting the barrel cheap stock was the reason so I bedded the forearm to stiffen it up. Kept it free floated though so watch bipods on cheap synthetic stocks
