Well my son shot his second Black Bear last Friday..................This time he used a 30-06 his Grandfather gave him and shot it with his first reloads. He hunted for that bear for four days in the snow and - degree weather. I was proud of him. He really enjoys Hunting Black Bear because he said they are much more difficult to hunt than Deer and In California baiting and or dogs are illegal.
They do have some really strange laws. The Bear MUST be validated within one business day by a Game Warden but no one he called knew where he was. According to what he was told the bear has to be validated at the kill sight. Still no one he contacted could locate him and those who said they would call back never have. Last year we were told that we had to drive to where the Game Warden was which was a 200 mile round trip. We talked to a hunter in the area who was told he had to drive to Sacramento to get his deer validated and that was over 130 miles one way............................He is still trying to figure out what he should do its just that no one knows.
Anyone from California that knows what the laws are.
