Well my son shot his second Black Bear last Friday..................This time he used a 30-06 his Grandfather gave him and shot it with his first reloads. He hunted for that bear for four days in the snow and - degree weather. I was proud of him. He really enjoys Hunting Black Bear because he said they are much more difficult to hunt than Deer and In California baiting and or dogs are illegal.
They do have some really strange laws. The Bear MUST be validated within one business day by a Game Warden but no one he called knew where he was. According to what he was told the bear has to be validated at the kill sight. Still no one he contacted could locate him and those who said they would call back never have. Last year we were told that we had to drive to where the Game Warden was which was a 200 mile round trip. We talked to a hunter in the area who was told he had to drive to Sacramento to get his deer validated and that was over 130 miles one way............................He is still trying to figure out what he should do its just that no one knows.

Anyone from California that knows what the laws are.

MANDATORY PRESENTATION OF BEAR
SKULL
Any person who takes a bear shall present the skull (even if
damaged) to a Department office/officer within 10 days of taking
the bear. The skull shall become the property of the Department.
The portion of the skull not needed for scientific purposes will be
returned. (Section 367.5, Title 14 of the CCR) Please see
appointment section and office phone numbers below

We have no way of reaching the Game Warden and no one we have contacted knows how to either. Last we heard he was somewhere up on the Oregon Boarder.......................If they want the skull then they need to make themselves available. Same issue we had last year no one in town new where he was or how to get in contact with him.

If you kill a bear, you must have the tag countersigned (validated)
by a Department of Fish and Wildlife Employee. Bear tags must
be validated prior to transporting the bear, except for the purpose
of taking the bear to the nearest person authorized to validate the
tag en route to your home from the point where the bear was
taken. All Department of Fish and Game offices will validate bear
tags. If Department offices are closed, the bear tag shall be
validated within one business day of transporting the bear from the
point where taken. The report card portion must be returned
immediately after tag validation

The bear hunter lives in a rual part of California. County Sherrifs Dept does not know where the Game Warden is or how to contact him. He has left messages but no one has returned his calls . County officials from the small town he lives close to cannot help him. No one knows .......................and Im sure hes not going to drive 200 miles one way to Sacramento............

California has become the most difficult state to hunt in. The DFG is setting the stage for failure regarding hunter compliance. The fines they are assesing are MONSTROUS. The DEMS are infiltrating the DFG and hunting will soon be a thing of the past here in Cali. I took a nice bear in 1995 and they took the k-9 tooth to age the bear. And even back then I had to search for a DFG agent. I really haven't seen DFG agent in the field for 15yrs or better. What are they doing with all of our tax dollars??? This state is a joke. Get out while you can, take your guns before Finestein gets them and take the American flag on the way out.

You can get more with a kind word and a GUN than you can with just a kind word!

With this lack of rain in California that will push the state into total bankruptcy. Then you wont be seeing any DFG agents because there wont be any. Then the state will revert back to the way it was back in the 30's Trapping will be back in stile and you wont need to have your tags validated.
When I was in Quincy I asked if anyone new who the Game warden was or had they seen him and no one new. My son called and called and asked but no one new where a Game Warden was or how to reach him. I was told by another successful Bear hunter, who has had the same problem, to just fill out the tag and mark it unsuccessful. "You were unsuccessful in finding any DFG agent to validate your tag"

I mean really if no one knows were they are how can you be responsible for having your tag Validated by someone who has disappeared.

I know what the Law say. This is a prime example of what happens when worthless Liberals run anything. They want the citizens to follow their law then they need to make themselves available. IM NOT going to drive all over the state to find them.
If they are not available then I will have to fill out my tag as Unsuccessful.
This is total ********. I wont roll over to this Liberal Crap.
Im suppose to Drive hundreds of miles to find them when there are POT farms all over the hills out here and they just sit on their fat butts and look the other way and give millions to Illegals who are breaking our laws and are being rewarded for it .................and then they come down real hard of us if we don't kiss their............

Some people don't mind kissing their butts..............................

From now on Im just another unsuccessful Bear hunter...........................MUST be validated before transportation, unless to have it validated. So if no one can be found to validate it you must leave it in the field until someone can be found..........and if it spoils you will be given a fine.

If this in not insane what is..........................

I drove from Porterville,Ca. to Long Beach,Ca. which was 30 miles PAST my destination.

I looked all over the place for a DFG agent while I was in Porterville and gave up and headed for Long Beach!

And this is why I do most of my hunting in Wyo. & So Dakota.

But a lot of us cant hunt out of State, Therefore I will buy a Bear Tag hunt bear and if CF&G will not make themselves available I will just send in my tag marked "Unsuccessful"........................................

I live in and hate california. I wonder how many out of state hunting licenses they sell a year. I would not be surprised if it was 0…… Yet they still would not get a clue.lightbulb

The only hunting worth doing for a non-resident hunter is wild boar. I do believe we have the best pig hunting in the US. Other than that, you are correct. I bet the non-resident
applicants are VERY FEW!

As far as best pig hunting I agree with you if you mean best hunt for pigs. The terrain in a lot of areas is beautiful and much more fun than sitting in front of a feeder in Texas. Texas has more pigs though.

This is true. We do have great hunting country here. I don't do tree stand anything. Texas does have a lot of great hunting but much of it is tree stand hunting. That is not what I call hunting. Thats more like shooting fish in a barrel. Not much sport, and not much of a test of ones marksmanship skills. Can you imagine the embarrassment missing something that close. WOW!
