Where can I get one. Looking to build a .338 lupua magnum. Every where I check they are out of stock or not taking orders.

If you are wanting someone to build the gun for you, you might try Robert Gradous. I doubt he would sell you an action unless he builds the gun. The good part is, he does good work.

Then you will probably have to use something other that a Surgeon action for your build.

Since the sale of Surgeon Rifles, the decision was made to concentrate on the building of rifles instead of making actions for sale to the industry professionals and general population. Surgeon has told everyone in the business that they will provide actions IF and WHEN they have any surplus. So far it has been SLIM and NONE.

So, if you find one that is for sale jump on it quick because it won't last long.

As a simple suggestion, Defiance Machine is making the Deviant actions in all sizes including the Lapua with a 0.750" diameter bolt. The Deviant has the front integral lug and 1913 rail. Here is the link to their website:

Keeping with news worthy events, McMillan Stocks has been sold also. The sale is complete at the end of September.

McMillan Rifles has sold also, with the sale completing sometime after the 1st of 2014.

If your hung up on buying a custom action then whynot go all the way and buy the best of the best,,,In Rathdrum Idaho you will find BAT actions. Check out Kelbys for the Stolle and of coarse a 9 lug Weatherby can be on of the best.

No, the same company did not buy McMillan. Kelly called our office personally to tell us about the sale but the name of the buyer was not disclosed as it will be released sometime at the end of September, at least as far as I know.

There is still Stiller (tactical series of actions) Stillers Precision Firearms, Predator

Stiller also make an action to a Shilen spec, which you buy from Shilen. That one accepts the popular Savage prefit barrels, but takes Rem 700 triggers and stocks. Welcome to Shilen Rifles, Inc.
Despite the link, click on actions after you study the barreled action offers (quite competitively priced for a custom).

Then there is Pierce. They are close to me in Lansing, MI. They make a Rem 700 clone action and also special actions for tube guns. Check it out Pierce Engineering
