Can anyone tell me about the Kestrel 4500. Can it feed information temp wind etc.directly to say a IPhone 4? If this works that way can anyone tell me what program they are using and how it works. Also what is needed is there just a cable between the two units. I have shooter and ballistix on my phone now.
Thanks

The Kestrel 4500 is available in two models. One that is bluetooth capable and one that is not. If you get one that is bluetooth capable, then it will work with 'shooter' as shooter is bluetooth capable.

I have the 4500 Bluetooth model, am sitting in a deer stand as I type this in on my phone. My kestrel is sitting right outside the blind on the optional wind vane. It works great on my android phone with "shooter".

Both Trebark and RDM416 are right... If you have a bluetooth Kestrel, it will work with the Shooter app on an android phone.

However, it will not work on an iphone, because of the way Apple has the iphone's bluetooth set. They have them locked down so that iphones will only communicate with certain devices, and a kestrel is not one of them.

I have an iphone 3gs and a bluetooth kestrel 4500. Couldn't get them to "pair". I even emailed Sean (the developer of Shooter). He basically said, its not going to happen until apple pulls the stick out of their ***, and quits locking down their products (my words, not his).

It has to do with the i devices not supporting the serial data platform that the kestrel
uses. I Agree with Sean. Apple has great hardware, they just need to let their customers
use it.

Thanks for the replys that is the info I needed and sounds like there are other people needing the same info. As said apple has a great product but they just got to let it be used for more apps.

Anyone know if the kestral 4500NV BT will sync with two android phones with "shooter" at the same time?

My buddy and I shoot using these and thought it would be nice if both would sync at the same time so that we would not have to "call solutions out and shoot different guns at the same target (obviously using different solutions for the same range etc.)

Thanks!

So if you pair your Kestrel to your shooter app, does it automatically update with the environmental conditions and adjust for your solution?
