Turrets

I am fixing up a Browning 270wsm for deer hunting in Arkansas 3000 feet most of the time and possibly taken elk hunting in Colorado 10,000 feet..I was wondering if it would be worth buying custom turrets for the scope mounted on the rifle. it is a Nikon Monarch 3 x 12 x42 nikoplex reticle lightbulb

I think this would depend on the maximum range that you expect to shoot. Your rifle, caliber, scope combo which is similar to the set up that I used for several years was zeroed for 300 yards and totally effective for shots out to 400 yards without any turrets, reticles, or adjustments other than elevating the crosshair to the top line of the shoulder on a whitetail at 400 yards. Once your ranges extend beyond this range, a turret or calibrated reticle will enable you to shoot with your crosshair on the animal. If you do plan on 500+ yard hunting, you might consider a higher power variable scope designed for long range shooting with turrets, and or calibrated reticle. The elevation and atmospheric differences for elk hunting at 10,000 feet would likely require a different yardage turret, or compensating rangefinder like the G7, if your turret was designed for whitetail hunting in Arkansas at 3000 feet.

Thanks Greyfox I am already going to buy a Vortex 4 x 16 i was just wonder if that size scope with the nikoplex would be worth putting turrets on it for a back scope or on a back up hunting rifle. I might be taking it to Colorado as a back but mostly for hunting deer in Arkansas Thanks again

I would personally put the money into the scope on your primary rifle. Or a good rangefinder, scope level, etc.
