Just got the stock today and the Mcgowan 45 caliber barrel about 2 weeks ago. I will be taking it to the range this weekend for some serious testing. I have a match that starts Friday at 100 yds, Saturday is 200 yds and Sunday is 300 yds so each night I will be shooting this rifle out to those distances. I will put a 6x24 B&L on for the testing.
As far as it was stock (50 cal) I took 4 deer last year out to 180 yds. Go to Doug's message board and learn all you can to shorten the learning curve because it is different than the shooting black powder. 200 sst or 195 Barnes at 2700fps+ certainly is a whole new experience.

Dam thats exciting its going to take my NY deer hunting to a new level.

Using the Barnes Expander sabot less I shot a .7" group at 100yds w/ sabots at 300 yds I shot about 4 using 200 SST's

Nice shooting. Kind of figured it would be a shooter, it's a PACNOR!!!

What did you size the Barnes down to and what type die?

My Pac likes the 250 TEZ's sabotless ran thru a Lee .449 sizer then slightly knurled.

It's a McGowan barrel and did not have to down size one was untouched and the other two was knurled up a thou. Wil be shooting the SST' tomorrow at 200 and 300 yds

My mistake. Hahaha.

Keep me posted on the SST if sabotless. I lightly knurl the Barnes for my McGowen. The SST's need ran thru a sizer as they are just a shade too big out of the pack. I might try a few tomorrow.

you're right, they are a shade too large. I kind of thought I might get away w/ them since the Barnes were so loose, but ended up hammering the SST down the barrel. I will be getting some of the spitzer Barnes to try soon and change the scope as I was running out of elevation at 300 yds. I do have a Viper 4.5X15 AO w/ 75 minutes of elevation but not sure if it will hold up to the recoil. I had a flat point 300 grain Sierra that measured at .4515 and it fit down without much problems and lobbed it out to 300 yds about 10" low of aiming point w/ no more elevation to click down or up to.

I had the 250 SST's ran thru a Lee .449 sizer. I lightly knurled them up for proper fit and will be shooting them soon in my McGowen. They are pretty reasonable in bulk 50 packs from Grafs.
