Just wondering what everybody thought of this, and if this was a good deal or not

"Kelbly's is now offering a "factory custom" rifle. The Kelbly Atlas Custom Rifle features a Stolle Atlas action in a bedded Bell & Carlson T-1000 stock with aluminum chassis. Each gun will feature a precision-chambered, Krieger cut-rifled barrel. (You won't find those on other "factory customs"). You have a wide choice of chamberings including: .223 Rem, 22-250, .243 Win, .308 Win, 300 WSM and 7mm WSM. The Atlas rifles come with a crisp, Rifle Basix two-pound trigger.

The good news is that this complete package — with your choice of stock finish — is just $2,300.00 complete."

They say by this fall they will have long action guns available in .280 rem, 30-06, 7mm rem, 300 win mag and 6.5x284

All the guns come with a Krieger #4 contour barrel that is 24" long

Finished weight is suppose to be 8 1/2 pounds

I have ordered one of these in 7mm WSM. Should be shipping any day now!
Seems like they try to have them in stock, which means short delivery times for customers.

What's the purpose of this gun? Hunting? Some class of competition?
I ask because this is a hunting site, and I don't know that Kelby knows anything about hunting guns. Does he?

My purpose with this gun is hunting and shooting steel plates in the mountains. I have a small private range with steel plates from 500-1200 yards that is not accessible by cars or ATVs.

I have ordered it in 7mm WSM and this will fill the "medium to long range" hunting gun gap in my line up. I have a 20 lbs 338 lapua mag that I use for most long range shooting now, but it is a not something I want to drag a long for hunting due to its weight.

This atlas gun looks like a pretty safe choice for such a gun. It has a plain stock that people seems to like. It is a precision made Rem 700 clone with Krieger barrel with a rifle basix two-pound trigger. 20MOA picatinny rail and a set of 30mm rings is also included in the $2300 price tag.

I live in Norway and after all shipping and exporting/importing + tax etc. will it cost me approx $3000-3100. This is not much more than many factory guns with will cost over here.

A factory Rem 700 XCR compact tactical costs around $2600 over here. And that is not even including rail and rings.

Very nice! I think most smith can match the advertised base model price.

I guess they dont have a left hand in stock though, so its probably gonna be quite a bit more expensive. Still, I sent them a mail. Lets see what happends.

Haven't shot her more that approx 20 rounds yet as I am waiting for a silencer to mount on it. But she seems to be well crafted. Tight and smooth.

I will give a report on accuracy when I have shot her some more.

Tried her at 1000 meters (1100) yards yesterday with some 162 A-max. I really need to practice my wind reading skills, but I got 7 of 10 shots on the plate.

The scope was an IOR 2.5-10x42. At these ranges I miss some more magnification and parallax adjustment. Next week I am going to pick up my new March F 3-24x42 that will replace the IOR on this rifle.
