Finally got the jigs built for fluting barrels on my new CNC mill and everything is working really awesome. Played around with speeds and feeds on some scrap barrels and then went to work on this one..hope you enjoy the video.

Cool video...but here's an ignorant question:

My brain thinks that if I left in triangular webbing something would be lightweight and strong. By making the flutes the way shown, wouldn't it weaken the barrel accordingly? Seems like I would want to remove the diamond areas and leave a raised, connected web? That way, I would think you would get lightere weight and the benefit of a triangular/diamond shaped trusses of stainless. Seems like the mirror image would be accordingly weaker?

Does this make any sense, or are there other considerations that make it a non-issue?

I guess you got some of your other equipment up and running now! Build your own jigs, code, tig weld etc etc. I would hate to see what you could accomplish if you applied yourself. All kidding aside Great work Nate.
