What does everyone thing of the 200gr Barnes TTSX loaded in a 300 RUM for elk?

I'd say you'd hard pressed to find any better, in my experience the Barnes is an outstanding performer & the TTSX should be even better (i'm just starting to play with the TTSX myself). The 200grn has a decent BC (don't be suprised if it's turns out better than listed), you should be able to stretch'er out a ways with out having to worry about close range performance.

Excellent choice. The bc is higher or the 200 ab is lower because the ttsx shoots flatter for me than the 200 ab. Either will kill your elk.

I have a box for my 300wsm have not had any time to play with it yet but I'm very excited to see what happens.

I thought about the same thing so I called Barnes and talked to them and the Guy I spoke with said he recommends the 168 gr that rule of thumb for barnes is go with a lighter bullet and I dont remember why. Call them and see if you get the same reply.

The Barnes TTSX lead free bullets are very long for what they weigh so the heavier bullets sometimes need faster twist barrels.

On the Barnes web-site there are warnings on the 30 cal 180 gr TTSX and the 200 Gr TTSX. The 180 gr needs a 1-11" twist or faster and the 200 gr needs a 1-10" twist or faster.

Quite a few people use lighter lead free Barnes bullets than they would use in a lead bullet. Because the bullets are longer and they penetrate much deeper than most lead bullets do.

I wouldn't recommend the 200 in a WSM, that is a REALLY long bullet for a short mag, I am using the 168 TTSX in my Lazzeroni Patriot (essentially a WSM), they shoot great, don't compromise powder capacity (mag length) & I know they will perform.

The 200 TTSX is now the LRX, but whatever name you use for it....I love it! My current golden load for my 300 RUM uses the 200g LRX. It's shooting sub MOA groups at 3207 avg muzzle velocity.

Also, I can confirm that the listed BC is a tad low. With my load I shoot a little over a full minute high (based on ballistics calculations using Barnes' published BC in both JBM and Shooter on my Android) at most distances out to 760 yds.
