Idahoans sound off.

The first doctor aka QUAK was dr Johans, they told me the only thing that would work for me was a morphine pump implanted, well the doctor screwed it up and twisted the cathater and I also had a CFS spinal fluid leak, that caused my brain to swell and they had to do a blood patch to seal up the leak, thats when it was discovered that the cathater was twisted and none of the meds was making it to the spot. So my pain doctor increased my doseage that the pump would deliever and it still was not taking any of the pain away, I forgot to mention that I had done a trial pain pump and it worked great. After the 4th med increase my pain doctor put me back on oral pain meds. The pump was doing other things too, mean through all of this my surgeon would not do anything about anything, very worthless, that was June of 2009, after I finally got very vocal with the surgeon he finally took the pump out in August, When he was done taking the pump out he came out and told my wife that he never wanted to see me again. So thats why we had to take out the staples ourselves and because of this whole process I had been working at St Al's, well they terminated me.
So I stopped seeing Dr Johans and went to see Dr Frizzell. He did a 2 level fusion on my lower back and there is nothing he can do for my sacrum part of my spine, it has a severe curve to it and they can't fix it and 2 different types of arthritis through out my lower back. I was doing real good for the first 2 months and then the pain came back to about the same level, I can't set for very long and I can't stand/walk for very long either. I have had to be put back on morphine and its still not helping so I am not sure what my next move is, I just know I can't live with this amount of pain anymore. I know I will never have another back surgery again, those first two nights after my surgery I have never been in that kinda pain in my life. Right now I am wondering if I am even going to be able to hunt this year, I have a heavy gun and am trying to trade for a lighter gun.

You might give Dr. Verst a try. He has done some very innovative things that most Dr.s don't do. I've sent over a dozen people to him that have had prior surgery screw-ups that he has been able to give them a new lease on life. Doesn't fix everything back to perfect but sure helps improve your quality of life. I've also had epidural injections in my back that help eliminate the intensive pain for up to six months at a time. I, also, tried the pump with about the same results you had. It seems to me that you might consult a good attorney. They should never have quit seeing you before your post-op was completed.
When and if you feel up to it, your idea of getting a bunch of us together and doing some shooting sounds like fun. Hope you get better!
 
I forgot to mention that I know Tim Floyd personally, he is a very nice guy but I would not let him operate on me, I worked at St Al's for 6 years and got to know alot of the doctors there. After what I went through with the first or should I say the second back surgery there will be no more surgeries on my back. Besides they couldn't fix my lower back with the abnormal amount of curve to it and also the fact that none of the joints, S2, S3, S4, never fused as they are suppose to be totally fused by the time your 26, no mine.
As far as injections, I use to see Dr Binegar down on Myrtle street and I don't have anything good to say about that man, he is mister injection. I have had 3 epidurals in my lower back, did nothing and then they did RF albalation on both sides of my lower back and that did nothing, in case you don't know what that is its where they go in and burn the nerves that are suppose to be causing all the pain. With both mine and my wifes experience with Dr Binegar neither of us have anything good to say about him.
But as far as neuro surgeons I have seen, they are:
Dr Little
Dr Zimmerman
Dr Jutzy
Dr Johans
Dr Frizzell
The last one, Dr Frizzell is an amazing surgeon.
There was no way I was going to let any of the orthopaedic back surgeons touch me
Now Dr Hajjar and Dr Montabono are good.
But if I can find someone to trade guns with and get someting that is more comfy for me to carry and shoot I would love for a bunch of use to get together on a nice day out in the desert and shoot and the shoot the BS.
I don't know if anyone has a chrono, I have one of those CED's and it works great.
I might have a line on a good and light 7MM, of course I would have to put my jewell trigger in it before I would shoot it and I will have to put together a good load for it. I was hoping to find someone with a 6.5 X 284 that wanted to trade. I hate the thought of getting rid of my sendero just because its too heavy and I can't pack it around anymore. Have you tried the Remington SPS? Mine is in 270 and is real light weight and has little to no recoil. I would like to get together with you and do some shooting. I have lots of 12" and 14" steel targets.

Well at first when I thought I was getting a tax refund I had a nice Tikka 300WSM lined up, brand new gun with scope and was just going to keep my sendero and build it up to be an extreme long range target/ canyon gun. But the wife has an old student loan that she got before we got married and they took all of our fed return and I did fill out a injured spouse form, but I think they are still going to try and keep it all. Then I had a guy who wanted to trade me for a brand new savage model 111 long range hunter in the 6.5 X 284 caliber, but he started wanting me to include some of my reloading supplies, I told him I would sell him them and a good price, but he felt he should get them included with the gun, I had to remind him that my gun cost much more then his and have had gunsmith work done to it, bedded/floated, trigger work, bolt squared and lugs worked on, limbsaver recoil pad, brand new target crown cut in the barrel in December.
I told him the deal was off then.
When I get rid of my gun I will have these supplies to sell.

Now I have a guy who wants to trade me for a 7MM, the nice thing about it is my nightforce rail will work on it, my jewell trigger will work on it and its lighter then my sendero, right now I am unemployed so I don't have any money.
My wife shoots a 300SAUM and loves it and I can only afford one gun. So I need to make a good choice and it has to be a long range gun as I want to start trying to hit targets out to at least 1000 yards.
So thats my story, but yes it would be fun for a bunch of us to get together because I am sure it would be a learning experience, it would be nice to names to faces. So I guess we need to start putting a feeler out there to see who is interested in a get together/shoot.

You can cont me in on the get together. It would be great to put faces to names and share some great comadarie and BS. Perhaps a little shooting as well. I'm really new to this sport and know most could teach me more than a thing or two. The 7MM sounds like a good way to go. I have wished I would have had my rifle built in that caliber due to the huge expense of reloading my 300RUM. It has really been hard to find reloading components for it as well. I finally aquired 50 rounds of Nosler brass and 131 rounds of Remington that were good. Bullets and primers have been hit and miss. It shoots 200 gr. Accubonds tighter than anything else I've tried. I have started loading to SAAMI lengths as loading to the L&Gs were so long (3.873) that I decided to load for the best group I could get to feed through my magazine for hunting. My gun, unloaded, weighs in at 12lbs 8oz. which isn't too bad considering I've got a Nightforce NXS with Warne steel tacticle rings, Nightforce ADI, mount, and level. I also have a bipod mounted as well. My rifle is built on a Remington 700 stainless action with a 30" Luther Walther precision air guaged stainless barrel with a custom "Answer" muzzle break. The stock is a laminated Claro walnut with an aluminum piller bedded frame from Accurate Innovations. I had it made with a 14" LOP which added some weight so I think it came in pretty good overall. I have a Jewel trigger set at 1.5lbs My best 100 yard group has been .1983 or 1/5 MOA. That was a 5 shot group where I put a rod down the barrel after each shot.

WOW, my rifles are nothing like that. Just factory 270 Remington SPS and factory 22-250 Kimber, A cheap Stevens 200 in 308. ( platform to build up on.) Somewhere in the safe is a marlin 17HMR. But my handguns are a little better than average. 223 remington XP100r, MOA 243 and of course my Encore 257 Roberts carbine and the Contenders.
Someday the Stevens will be a 6.5x284.

That's the only rifle I have like that. I do have one other custom that is made from a 1917 Winchester action, Douglas barrel, blueprinted with custom trigger work and custom made glass bedded stock in a 30-338Winchester Wildcat. My others are Remington 25-06, CZ550 .22-.250, Ruger MK II in .223, .22-.250 and .338 Win Mag. My 17HMR is a Savage. I have many .22s, couple of muzzle loading rifles and pistols and quite a few miscellaneous shotguns and pistols. I've sold most of my firearms the last few years to help pay for med bills and the custom rifle. I've still got a couple listed for sale that I don't use anymore. I'm trying to get down to just what I enjoy shooting and loading for. I'm probably quite a lot older than you and have been shooting almost all my life. I got my first Idaho hunting license in July of 1958 and still have it.

For a long time I lived around Salmon, Idaho.

At present I am living in Meridian, Idaho.
 
I grew up in north Idaho, then lived in Boise for a while. Moved away in 2001. Worst decision i have ever made hunting wise. I hate having to draw just to hunt deer and only get 1 week to do it. I go back every year to visit family in the summer. I sure miss north Idaho.:)
 
Lewiston here making a holler. it sucks trying to find good spots to shoot even with all the farm ground around. be nice to have something permanent and close. 1000 yd is awesome and great practice for hunting. would like to put on a good fun shoot again like my buddies and i used to with all kinds of different targets and shooting positions and yardages.

Yep it pretty much was a matter of economics. Now only if I could win the lottery, I would pack up and move to Mackay, Idaho.
