.243 Win Coyote Loads

37.5 of I 4064 and a 85 sierra bthp; or 88 berger or 87 berger or 87 horn bthp. or about the same amount of varget.

that is kind of what I thought it might be.

I have been trying to get a load worked with H4350 for the 87 grain v-max in my 243. might have to give the H4831SC a try.

I use H4350 now and my rifle likes it a lot but it's not the fastest load.

Win Brass
Fed 210
42.4 gr H4350
87 gr vmax
2.66 - 2.68
2950 fps

Do you know how far out of the lands you are?

I did not get very good groups with 42.5, they were better with 43.5 grains. I will have to go measure the groups.

My load components so far are:
Rem brass
Federal 210 match primer
H4350
87 grain v-max
0.030 out of the lands

the rifle is a Rem 700 SPS stainless

I just got a chronograph and have not measured any yet due to other things detracting from trigger time...

If you are looking for Vmax, do a quick search online. There are several companies that have some for sale. In my opinion, the 87 grain Vmax is one of the best bullets out there for varmits with the 243.

X2. Accurate, great B.C., and hell on coyotes! I just bought a few boxes from Midway. I had given up on them a while ago until I was informed that they were available again.

If I remember correctly my rifle shot better 0.04 out of the lands with this load. Also, I forgot to mention that I use a Lee factory crimp die for my 243.

I got a 0.4" group out of 43.5 grains of H4350 with the 87 grain v-max, the next best was about an inch or better at 43, then worse at 44 and little better again at 44.5. These are 0.030 out of the lands.

part of me is wondering if a more rigid stock wouldn't help things out some... I am not too sur ehow found to get of the factory tupperware stocks they clamp on the 700's

Also wondering what an economical alternative stock might be...? Been looking around a little at the boyds laminates and bell and carlson medalists....

I also get around a half inch with a box of hornady custom factory ammo with the 75 grain hollow point bullet in it.

Win brass

One bullet I didn't see mentioned (but I will admit I just skimmed) is the 55 grain Nosler BT. My dad is an ADC Specialist (full time federal trapper, kills 300-400 coyotes/year) and uses it in a supressed Rem 700 .243 as a calling/walking rifle. Coyotes are usually DRT or very close too it. Not too pelt friendly. Have no idea what load he is using these days.

.243 Winchester coyote loads. 87 vmax, 1x10 twist, 37.5-38 grains Varget. start 10% lower work up. Hornady 87 grain bthp, 1x9 twist, 37.1 grains IMR 4064, Hornady reload manual load. 55 nbt, nosler accuracy load in nosler reload manual for Varget. Also 55nbt load on front of H4895 reloading powder, 44.5 grains H4895 All loads are for 1x10 twist except for 1x9 twist for Hornady 87 bthp. All accurate loads for rifles I load for. 1/2" to 1 1/4" at 200 yards. Some of my rifles are customs and they shoot these loads VERY well!

My Tikka likes the 75 gr vmax with 42grns of H414 C.O.L. is 2.70"
My Savage 243 likes the 105 Amax w/42 grns of H4350 C.O.L.is 2.80"
75 gr vmax puts em lights out u can move em +3400fps and they have a good B.C.
105 amax has a real good B.C. @.500 I think same as the 87 gr vmax and they absolutely destroy coyotes.
See my last post of "rabbiddog and son hit the woods" I nailed that coyote with a 105 2 round 100yds+-.

I shoot the 87 VMAX using WIN brass and H4350. 43.0 gr and lit by a FED 210M get me right at 3200 fps with my 24" AR10T. VERY accurate. Furthest coyote was 785. A couple of spins and he was down. I've shot it at around 100*F to -15* F or so. Very temp stable, too. I've never had a problem finding the 87's locally.

I use 43gr of Varget, federal brass, rem 9.5 primer, and 58gr Vmax. It really hammers em. But I haven't shot anything further than 300 with it yet.

Gotta love them Tikkas.

I run 75gr hornady loads, they are hell on yotes i've never had one take a step after being hit. Any shot from shoulders forward they hit the dirt, not too bad on the pelts. My farthest shot has been around 400yd and she went straight down...
