Hey guys I just got my 300 rum sendero set up that I bought off here..Shot it for the first time tonight. I shot the remington scirocco 180gr power level 3's out of it and it just seemed to spray them at 100 yards (probably around 5 inch groups) off sand bags! I dont claim to be the best shot but def better than 5 inch groups off bags I was hoping 1 inch groups...Whats everyones take on this particular bullet-is it junk for tight groups? Are some rifles fussy and a different manufactures bullets with shoot flies off paper?? I plan of shooting Nosler custom or Barnes ttsx would these help my groups? And if so what are your experiences with factory ammo..is changing brands gonna pay off like I'm hoping??

Can't say for sure, but there seems to be a lack of QC in Rem products lately. I bought a used Sendero 300 Rum a couple of years ago with a box of Power III 180 Sciroccos and they shot .5 MOA or better, I've got some new 300 RUM brass here in front of me and it's the cheapest looking brass I have ever seen, and I'm starting a thread on it.

From where I'm sitting, it looks like Rem is cutting a lot of corners.... rifles, brass, whatever...

Now that you say there looking cheap I had one shell out of my box I bought that would not eject from the chamber, I would pull the bolt back slow/fast the cartrige would just sit there and not get thrown out..i guess i'm hoping it was shell not the rifle its the only one that did not eject properly.

My 300rum was produced in 2000 and it also sprays the same ammo in about a 3" group at 100yards. I doubt it is your rifle. Also try cleaning your chamber if you are having rounds stick. And clean your bolt face especially around the extractor. Be careful not to let solvent or oil run into the firing pin hole.

I used 180g scirocco power level 2 to break in my sendero sf ii a couple of weeks ago. Was grouping at about 1" pretty easily. Been building hand loads since then and have had some luck with 200g ttsx, accuracy wise. Going to test shoot a bunch more this weekend.

I, too, bought a bag (100 pcs) of Remington brass and it was pretty mangled. Took a little longer to prep, but it's fine now that it's all been fired once.

I had a problem with extraction on a custom rifle i had built in 300 rum and it was because there wasn't enough purchase on the rim because the extractor was so small as standard from remington due to the case head size , i had it cured by the riflesmith who fitted a sako style extractor.

REM core-lokt ultra bonded power level 3 worked better. scirocco 180 gave me a 3" to4"grouping at 100yd. REM put first two shots in same hole, 3rd shot 1"up and left. my gun smith had same grouping

I shot the swift's in my 300 rum and got 1 inch 3 shot groups at 300 yards but that was handloads.I never shot the factory ammo out of it,but the bullets worked well for me for accuracy and performance on game.Bought a 338 rum friday.I love it.

Started playing with loads and long range shooting about 5 years ago, went through 2 guns and finally settled on the sendero in 300 ultra mag. After trying about 6 different bullets, swift, nossler, hornady and so on I decided to try the 185 grain Burger VLD. My 5 shot group went from 3 to 4 inches at 200 yards with the other bullets to 1/2 inch at 200 yards with the burger. In order to achieve that group I had to play with bullet seating depth until I hit my sweet spot. Thats the only bullet I was able to achieve that results with.

My electric measuring device isnt working but measuring the best i can without digging thru all my papers it is 3 and 11/16 inches long.

As a few of the others have said, rem ammo isn't great and the accuracy spread is pretty abysmal between rifles. I had a box of the 180 Scirocco factories for my 300rum and they shot moa, so I got half the accuracy that I do from my handloads at $3 a pop. I've seen other rifles do 4-5 inch groups with rem factory ammo so I wouldn't be surprised if your rifle went there.
