This thread is not just for those named in the title. This thread is aimed towards all who have contributed to the 'Let's argue BC's' and 'Lets NOT argue BC's.
I just want to say that these have been great disscussions and a great debate. What I REALLY appreciate is that even though some posts got a little heated and even condecending at times, (I realize I have been guilty a time or two for this) for the most part the entire thread (all 33 pages of it) has been fairly respectfull. I know myself and several others have taken note and are very appreciative of the respectfull treatment. That goes for both sides of the debate. If anybody feels that I have flammed or dissrespected anyone, I would take this as an avenue to personally appologize.
There have been some threads in the past that were downright ugly. Most threads that go on and on where the dead horse gets beaten flat typically end up getting closed due to very heated arguments along with dissrespect. Both in recent years and distant. For whatever reason, this thread has been different.
I just want to express my thanks and appreciation for keeping it cool for my sake and everbody else's and for the sake of keeping a very informative thread open. I can respect guys to a higher degree when they keep it cool. I think most other guys feel the same way.
I have learned a few things along the way here. It has been a long and exhausting thread but anything but a waste of time. As you know, I am waiting for my smith to re-headspace my 300 so I can perform some more tests. These threads have prompted me to do this, if nothing else so that I can learn how to be more accurate and to accurately help others how to be accurate. The second to the last thing I want to do is to be innaccurate in my methods. The last thing I want to do is inaccurately help or teach somebody about shooting.
I have stated in the past that I will post the results exactally as they are be it they confirm past results or show me that I made a gross mistake in the past. If that is the case, you will all know about it. I intend to make good on this even if it has to be at my expense from a 'peer' standpoint. As long as I learn from it, being the laughing stock of my peers is not a big deal. Inaccuracies in my system are a big deal. If I have some, I want to know about it.
This thread is soley based on a personal level. This thread is NOT a continuation of either thread. Please respect my request that this thread is NOT to talk about BC's or ballistics whatsoever. It is NOT an avenue for any sort of negativity. If you reply, please make sure it is positive be it directed towards me or anybody else. I only post it in the 'ballistics' section because this thread is in direct reference to those 2 BC threads.
That said, thank you all for a couple of well balanced threads from a respect standpoint and having a 'let's keep it cool' approach. Yes, there have been some heat and flame, but overall, it has been well balanced. I have a tremendous amount of respect for each and every one of you and even though one side is either 100% right or the other is 100% right or if each side is 80% right and the truth lays within the other 20% or any combination of value, we all are at least doing something right in the field. All of the dead animals on the ground, freezer, wall etc....speak for themselves (the dead animals dont speak, just the results) . If nothing else, we should have respect and admiration for one another for what we have accomplished in the field. I know many of you already do.
From the aspect of anti-hunters and even other hunters (which many detest long range hunters) or anti gun rights activists, we are ALL on the same side. As long as we stand together on that fundamental, 'its all good'!
Many thanks,
M
