This thread is not just for those named in the title. This thread is aimed towards all who have contributed to the 'Let's argue BC's' and 'Lets NOT argue BC's.

I just want to say that these have been great disscussions and a great debate. What I REALLY appreciate is that even though some posts got a little heated and even condecending at times, (I realize I have been guilty a time or two for this) for the most part the entire thread (all 33 pages of it) has been fairly respectfull. I know myself and several others have taken note and are very appreciative of the respectfull treatment. That goes for both sides of the debate. If anybody feels that I have flammed or dissrespected anyone, I would take this as an avenue to personally appologize.

There have been some threads in the past that were downright ugly. Most threads that go on and on where the dead horse gets beaten flat typically end up getting closed due to very heated arguments along with dissrespect. Both in recent years and distant. For whatever reason, this thread has been different.

I just want to express my thanks and appreciation for keeping it cool for my sake and everbody else's and for the sake of keeping a very informative thread open. I can respect guys to a higher degree when they keep it cool. I think most other guys feel the same way.

I have learned a few things along the way here. It has been a long and exhausting thread but anything but a waste of time. As you know, I am waiting for my smith to re-headspace my 300 so I can perform some more tests. These threads have prompted me to do this, if nothing else so that I can learn how to be more accurate and to accurately help others how to be accurate. The second to the last thing I want to do is to be innaccurate in my methods. The last thing I want to do is inaccurately help or teach somebody about shooting.

I have stated in the past that I will post the results exactally as they are be it they confirm past results or show me that I made a gross mistake in the past. If that is the case, you will all know about it. I intend to make good on this even if it has to be at my expense from a 'peer' standpoint. As long as I learn from it, being the laughing stock of my peers is not a big deal. Inaccuracies in my system are a big deal. If I have some, I want to know about it.

This thread is soley based on a personal level. This thread is NOT a continuation of either thread. Please respect my request that this thread is NOT to talk about BC's or ballistics whatsoever. It is NOT an avenue for any sort of negativity. If you reply, please make sure it is positive be it directed towards me or anybody else. I only post it in the 'ballistics' section because this thread is in direct reference to those 2 BC threads.

That said, thank you all for a couple of well balanced threads from a respect standpoint and having a 'let's keep it cool' approach. Yes, there have been some heat and flame, but overall, it has been well balanced. I have a tremendous amount of respect for each and every one of you and even though one side is either 100% right or the other is 100% right or if each side is 80% right and the truth lays within the other 20% or any combination of value, we all are at least doing something right in the field. All of the dead animals on the ground, freezer, wall etc....speak for themselves (the dead animals dont speak, just the results) :) :D. If nothing else, we should have respect and admiration for one another for what we have accomplished in the field. I know many of you already do.

From the aspect of anti-hunters and even other hunters (which many detest long range hunters) or anti gun rights activists, we are ALL on the same side. As long as we stand together on that fundamental, 'its all good'!

Many thanks,

M

Heck man I do not see any reason for any of yall to be sorry. I on the other hand have been signing in here with the best intention of not posting in that thread. Only problem is I am sometimes a little deeper in the pain meds than I think. Sometimes I read my posts later and just groan. I hate the meds and will not go out to the shop while on them in fear that I will end up wrapped up in the chuck. Some days I can fight the pain and go do my thing. I was able to do two chambers this week. I was also able to get two rifles ready to shoot out to 800. After I get done in the shop I usually have to come in and take the meds, and the effects vary.

I will try to stop posting under the influence. It is hard to come here after a long abscence and just jump into the fray. I am sorry if I offended anyone.

BTW for any who may wonder what is wrong with me here is a short, long story. MRI found 3 badly bulging disks, got a steroid shot in my spine. Three days later I got a headache that felt like a brain freeze. MRI revealed a pituitary adenoma. Had the brain surgery to remove the tumor that had ruptued and was leaking my spinal fluid out. Got pulomonary embolisms from the surgery, almost died. Sometime during my treatment I devoloped spinal stenosis and spacing between L4-L5 closes down on my spinal cord to about the diameter of a pencil. I cannot have surgery right now because of the blood thinners from the bloodclots. Basically I am screwed until July.

God bless you eddybo,, I hope you can overcome these chalenges and heal up.

Michael, I didn't read all the post but commend you for this one. Sometimes we all get a little carried away.

Thank you Jim. I have turned the corner now. It seems like I have been down forever even if it has just been a year. I should have taken some videos of me shooting long range wearing oxygen.:) Randy338 and Limbus and some others from this site and some guys from another site helped keep my spirits up. There are no better friends than gun guys.

No worries fellas, y`all welcome round my campfire too...

Hey guys, I really enjoyed the "lets argue about BC" thread. I resisted the urge to weigh in and just sat back and listened to those who know a lot more than I do about the subject.

Threads like that one are the reason I continue to hang out on this site. Good job guys and thanks for a thought provoking discussion. :)

AMEN!!
I got into an innocent enough thread a while back that turnned heated. I got so irked by some of the posts, that it started to become heated. Well there went the thread, and my attitude with it. Got so rediculous, and carried away, and personal, that I never even checked in to see how it ended.
For that very reason I didnt even check in to L/R/H, for 2+ months.
I only belong to 1 forum, this one. I have learned more here in a short time than I ever could have immagined. This site is why I learned how to turn on a computer. (ya, seriously, Im not kidding) Im not a neanderthall, Im just not fond of most technology stuff is all.
Discussions that DONT get personal, or degrade people, yet still stay informitave are why Im here. L/R/H is a well run site, and the most informitave place Ive found. Congrats for keeping it civil guys. Even those of us who just read it and didnt post, learned from it, and appreciate everyone keeping it in check for the most part.
I missed L/R/H while I was blowing off steam, and dont care to repeat that one. Because of the prompting of several members that I should come back, and keep up with all thats goin on, I came back, and it feels good to be "home" again.
Thank you to all the RESPECTFULL members, and the MODS for keeping L/R/H what it is, and not letting it go down "that road". L/R/H is a Top notch site, and place to learn, for this very reason.lightbulb
