fast twist 250?

Looking into new rifle. I am tinking hard about savage 12 lrpv in fast twist 22-250 maybe shooting 75 amaxes looks like the BC on those is pretty awesome what is the realistic range capabilites and barrel life on these. Also what kind of velocites and ballistic performance can really be expected from this rig

I think you would like it alot. I had a 1:8 twist and 75Vmaxs and 80SMKs were great but bbl needed set back at about 800 rounds. I used mine on prarie dogs but if it would be used on coyotes or ground hogs that wasn't high volume shooting it would last several years. I run 75Amaxs at 3300fps and they were hell on coyotes or anything else. With Lapua brass to use now I think you would be making a good choice.

The cat's meow!! I run 36.0 gr. of RL-17 w/ 75 gr A-Max's for 3400-3450 fps!! W/ a .435 bc and that velocity, run those #'s through any bc calculator and see for yourself. I have a 204 and I do like it for prairie dogs, this combination leaves the 204 as a safe queen for pretty much anything bigger! Good Luck!!

You will love that gun! I have a 22-243 but am not shooting much faster than 3400 with the 75 A-maxes . It will kill hogs out to 1000 yards.

My 22-250 savage12 is a sweet shooter and likes 55grain bullets...going to try some 75 grain in her next, hope my twist is ok.

I get 2200 to 2500 rounds before throat is gone, but I don't let if cool between shots when shooting prairie dogs is hot.
Shot 540 rounds in one day.
