I am using a one piece SS cleaning rod and have noticed that I have rifling marks on the rod. I am using a bore guide so my question is am I scratching my bore with my rod? I was thinking I could place a heat shrink plactic tube around the rod to protect my bore?

Thanks

I wouldn't cover it with anything because it may turn loose and get stuck (I had a high priced
coted rod role up while cleaning and get stuck) and had a hard time getting it out.

I do recomend the use of the biggest rod possible for the bore. I like the stainless rods that
will go in a .277 bore and bigger and on anything smaller than .277 I use a .224 rod.

The 17 cal takes a special rod and I use it for 17 cal only.

The larger rod is stronger and does not flex down the bore and rub on the sides.

The scratching is from the chamber end and you probably have a 22 cal cleaning rod,

Just a suggestion.
