This wasnt a long shot, just 278 yds, but you take what is offered. I was using my 375 tejas, impact velocity at about 2800 fps, 260 accubond. No meat damage and the entrance side rib cage had a 5" diameter hole blown thru it. The exit side shoulder blade had a mushroomed size hole with the bullet stopping against the hide. I have never seen an animal hit the ground so fast, not so much as quiver after the shot. Very impressed with the bullets performance.

Always hered field artillary called for a forward observer.... lucky for you your daughter is tough enough to lugg that cannon around as a gun barrer, when her forward observing skills are not called upon:D
Good lookin rig, congrats on the bull, and congrats on raising a daughter that hunts with her dad. Very cool. We need more posts/threads like this. Thanks for getting your kids involved. Hats off to ya. Neat pics too by the way

Very nice. thanks for sharing. I'm not familiar with the 375Tejas. Can you give us some specs on the cartridge? what's the parent case?

375 rum improved (tejas) case blown out and pushed forward. My load is 108 gns of rl 19, 260 accubond at 3378 fps from a 31" brux barrel. My daughter killed an elk last year with this rifle at a long for the family shot of 800 yds.

Very good for both you AND your daughter.

She's gotta be a great outdoor companion as I noticed the two camo patterns she's wearing don't quite match.:)

How fast will that Tjas toss a 350 SMK. Me thinks the 350 could extend the range a few hundred yards. Don't know though.

However, expending that many foot pounds in less than 18 inches has gotta drop 'em fast.

Last year we used the 350 smk, it shoots at 3000 fps, my daughters 800 yd elk, my 480 yd mule dear and a 50 yd mule deer. The 480 and 800 yd shots apeared to have no expantion and possably the bullet tumbling on impact. On the 50 yd kill the deer was facing us and the bullet hit the deer in the head then exited and reentered the front shoulder with massive damage and exited out thru the rear quarter with a cal size hole. While skining the deer I found the broken off unexpanded hollow point tip 5/16" long under the hide next to the exit hole. Those three kills made me want a differant bullet for hunting. My 480 yd deer was hit quartering away with the exit behind the shoulder and an apparent miss when it got sick and fell down just before the next shot.

No wonder he died, got his lights turned out by a flying anvil, that's taking a big hit to to stop it under the hide!:D

I just had coffee fly out of my nose and almost peed I was laughing so hard. That was hillarious!:DYou are stepping up to fill Roy's shoes in his absence!:D:Dhahahahahahahahah:D

Oh just read this page, guess ol Roy dropped by for a visit. Miss ya Roy!, But it looks as though you left us in good comedic cpompany, hehehehehehe

Thanks for this info.

I'm thinkin' that there may be considerable difference between the 338's 300 SMK and the 375's 350 SMK.

I'll be pushing the 350 SMK a bit over 3000 but am a little concerned about terminal performance.

I have some ideas on improving the bullet selection for the 375 based on my work with improvement of 277 bullets.

Thanks again.

winmag, you're gonna have to start drinking your coffee through a straw.:D

Hmmmm, Where was the entrance with respect to the exit?

You said that this shot did not appear to expand and apparently tumbled, thus it must have missed the spine or any bones?

I think that when there are enough of us shooting the 375 cal that Berger will step up to the plate and make a 350 gr projectile that if it works as well as the 300 Hybrid in 338 that'll be the ticket.

By the way, there are some around here that would frown on your knife.:) Personally I like it. Says your a practical kind of fella.

How many bale strings has it cut?:D
