I am looking at buying one of the Nikon Monarc 4X16 that has a side mouned parallax adjustment and need some input. Does all of the Morac series have the UCC or is it just certain ones. I like the side focus but also want a super clear scope. I am intending for the scope to be my varmit scope.

For the money, Nikon and Burris seem to be the best there is. But once you step up to the Monarch series depending on the scope size and magnification range, your in the ballpark for a Leupold VX-III, or Zeiss Conquest (with less magnification).
Scopes, like rifle cartriges, have ALOT to do with personal preferance, and aplication.
I own Nikons, Burris's, and Leupolds and am impressed by all 3. You can run a box test and they prove themselves time and time again. Just stay away from the side focus IMO.
1 thing to wach for if your going to be dialing in drops and windage with a Nikon is that one of thier models is 1/8 moa, not 1/4 moa adjustment. That equates to alot of clicks!
Someday Ill step up to play with the big boys and get a Leupold Mark 4 for a dedicated L/R scope, but for now Im happy with what Ive got for the range I shoot.

Thanks Winmag
Do you think a lr scope should have an adjustable parallax ? I know some I have looked through are fuzzy at longer ranges.

I have the 4x16x42 i really like it, very clear. Tracks pretty well, not the best, but good. I do wish i would have spent a little more and got the monarchX.

Before I owned one I wouldve said probably not a necesity. BUT once I owned one and shot at extended ranges with it, Ill never again buy a scope for L/R that doesnt have some sort of paralax adjustment. To me its absolutely vital if I want any accuracy at all when Im reaching out there a ways. My opinion is a hands down YES!! I own a 4.5x14x40 Buckmaster with a side focus. Its great for focus, but its the absolute worst scope I own for paralax. But Id take my Burris with the adjustable paralax, or the Nikon with the A/O any day over the side focus.
Funny, I bought it and loved it, but havent been able to bring myself to permanently mount it on anything because the paralax is so bad inside 150yds, and past 475yds and the BDC circles in it drive me nutts. I dont like circles. Give me stadia lines or a duplex with turrits. I dunno, maybe Ill quit whining and put it on my 30-06. I never use her anymore anyway. But at least she wouldnt be naked. This is the first side focus scope Ive owned, and other than mocking it up and looking thru it at range Ive never shot with it. I love my other Nikons, so please understand Im not bashing them. But this particular model was a waste of $ for the way my eye sees the crosshairs thru it. It has great Very adjustable long eye relief, and Chrystal clear focus, but the crosshairs seem to float all over for paralax. Just my opinion.
