Where is the infamous NIGHTFORCE NX8 tight eyebox?

I have a 2.5-20×50 on my 22GT. I got it for a steal at $1300.
For the price (and probably even up to retail), it is very good.
I have shot is a lot since August. No issues in eye box for me.

If you know me, I am a glass snob. This is the only NF I own, and I am happy with it.

It's a great scope. Unfortunately a lot of people get confirmation bias and go way out of the way to convince people what they bought is the only thing worth anything. I have a lot of nice glass. I've always been happy with my nightforce. It was a toss up for me weather to do the 2.5-20 nx8 or March.
I ended up with the March 2.5-25 and I also like that.

Gotta say if this man is happy with it that goes along way. Not sure I put any stock in someone who's says any nightforce is junk.

Yes, I kept the shv because the field of view and eye box both are significantly better for the ranges and hunting style intended for the rifle. I bought both the nx8 at the same time when they came out and they simply let me down. NX6 would have been a much better choice for nightforce, we'd all have them on everything we own.

Also forums are funny places, you talk about head placement and fundamentals on a scope that you've never even mounted yet according to original post. You've had several seasoned shooters on this thread and there are literally dozens of threads on multiple forums about nx8 eyebox and parallax issues.

For some reason you seem offended by those opinions on an optic that you honestly have not used enough to develop any sort of opinion about. You've put zero rounds down range with it and it's not even mounted yet.

I'm glad you like your optic and I hope it serves you well, but find it interesting you asked for input about the nx8 then were offended when people who have actually used the optic had different opinions then yours.

I've never said the nx8 are unusable, both models felt tight so I opted not to use them. Lots of great options out there so I chose to pursue other avenues.
1)I never asked for input here. What shv model are you talking about?
2)I didn't use it, that's true. That's why, for now, i will not write a poem about the NX8.
3)Who are the seasoned shooters who criticized the 4-32 nx8 SFP in this thread?
4)do you have links to the other threads you are talking about? (Remember, we are talking about 4-32×50 sfp)
5)why, before reading that the nx8 have tight eyebox, you bought not one of them, but two?

Edit: nothing personal of course my friend, we are here to talk and to argue :)

Thanks!

It sits like a 1/16" off the the barrel so jumping behind the glass is very natural, so problem averted. How many of the guys complaining had them on high rings sitting on a 20 moa rail? I might die on this hill alone but big game hunting rigs should have talley rings not Pic rails to get the scope down low to the bore. I can see rails for varmint or predator set ups, not big game.
I think scope to comb height is more important than scope to bore height. So, very stock dependent. I have some scopes **** near touching the barrel, yet the stock has too much drop, and results in a chin weld.

Curious as to why you think it's different for big game vs predator hunting.

Confirmation bias influences the choices of many people and then they defend their choices soreading BS to other users without first hand experience, etc etc.

A guy above here hated nx8's so much that bought two before selling them for the tight eyebox 😂

For real, if you can't get behind this scope in the field, go fishing.

I'm not sure the point of your thread. Every forum has lots of nx8 for sale pretty consistently, I can't say that's why guys are selling cause everyone has their own reasons for each build. You literally posted asking where is the "tight eye box" and when people reported they felt that way you wanted to question them. Use the search function on this site, snipershide, rokslide, accurate shooter, and long range only and you'll find a large number of shooters not happy with the eyebox and parallax for their specific needs or intentions.

The shv 10 power with side focus is the one i kept. You'll also note of you look into it that model is highly sought after and lasts no time when one is posted. It's a highly underrated and excellent optic for a lightweight rig, as is the g7 nxs 10 power model.

I happily bought two when they first came out because I wanted to see if it was tight for MY specific needs and they were. I'm not upset by it and moved on. Pay to play, that's part of it. Lol

I'm glad you like your optic as I mentioned above and I'm still confused why you need validation that no one has ever experienced anything different then you with it? If you like it be happy and use it. No reason to post this thread in first place if not open to hearing others experiences. I consider myself a seasoned shooter with thousands of rounds down range each year between my rifles and the dozens of other full custom rigs that I do load work on for friends each year.

That is a good point to make regarding the comb height. I would not use an adjustable comb on a back country big game rifle but I am assuming with varmint/predator hunting you are going to set up a position and call or go directly into tearing into some varmints. In the end it's whatever your comfortable with. I would go low talley rings without an adjustable comb on a big game rifle. I also prefer the AG Composites Alpine Hunter stock too. It has a high comb and with a low mounted scope you are good to go. I also do not go above 30mm main tube and 50mm objective for big game. Just my preference.

I do fish quite regularly too. Tournament tomorrow actually and I look forward to it. Lol

What bearing that has on the nx8 im not sure though

I have never experienced headache or hurting eyes from looking through a scope.. even 100 dollar ones. Btw the 4×32 is pretty forgiving eyebox wise, I really don't see any significant difference with my khales 2-10×50 in this regard. Also image sharpness is very good. I was able to read a car's license plate at 600 meters with the 32x today.
......." While viewing from the GRASSY KNOLL...."?🤣

The early 2.5-20's seemed to be the worse. The newer ones aren't near as bad. The one I had wasn't so much narrow eyebox, (although it was tight) the parallax was so finicky on it you couldn't move from a 500 yd target to a 600 yd target without adjusting parallax because the second target would just be a blur.

I have shot a bunch since and the newer ones don't have that issue as bad and the 4-32 is better on both eyebox and parallax then the 2.5-20.

It seems to me that you're telling other people how they should or shouldn't like the NX8 without firsthand experience. Have you looked through this scope on a rifle yet?

Yes, 5x is the ideal magnification range in my opinion, also 3x is ok for me. Unfortunately there are no decent lightweight hunting scope in that category. SFP, Mil reticle, weight under 30 oz, adjustable parallax, illuminated, max zoom of at least 14x, 50mm bell pr more, decent brand. Aside for the crazy priced TT 3-15, i looked for it for 2 months before accepting i had to do compromises. That scope simply do not exists on the planet
You're literally describing a Trijicon Tenmile TMHX1850-C-3000009….
