They are illuminated but most 10x you do not need a parallax adjustment. I use 2 USO ST10s that do not have parallax and I shoot them out to 1k all them time with no problems. My Leupold MK4 M3 10x has a side parallax but dose not need it I set it for 100yds and never touch it again. Like I said for most 10x you do not need a parallax adjustment but I do have a Leupold MK4 M1 10x that will focus down to 15yds or so this scope was really setup for true target shooting you have to always adjust the parallax and every distance it seems. As long as you stick to the basics of shooting like keeping good head alignment you will not have any problems. If hunting scope that are 10x and under they do not have a parallax adjustment.

The issue for me becomes one of parallax and "focus". While you can certainly hit the target with up to 10x with no parallax adjustment, no problem, I like the extra fine focus that a side PA knob gives you. I've decided I "prefer" it.

I have fixed 4x and 6x that shoot just fine, but at 10X I'm opting for the side focus. YMMV.

I Scott was going though my old post and noticed that I did not replay back to you.

It can be nice to have a side focus but it is not needed on most 10x scopes especially for hunting that was my point or a lot off tactical shooting like at steel.
