Ok, I am just wondering I have a custom caliber .30 hart rifle, and I fire form my brass for it.( from 300 wby brass)
I was wondering about the life expection /averages others are getting out of there fire formed brass
Like how many times do you reload a case fired formed>
I get 3 sometimes 4 reloads, before I toss them
what about you!

I to have a 30 hart and get usually 6 loadings from a single case, I may lose a couple cases during fireforming.

thanks that video makes it super simple, thanks
I will try that and see how much longer I get!

I just finished annealing 350 casing this afternoon. i used the youtube method, sort of. i put my torch in a vise(gently). used a socket that fit in my 3/8 drill so the open end could accept my 223 case. then spun it in the flame. did a 4 mississippi count and tipped the warm casing in a tub of water. worked great and fast.

I'm wondering why you toss them. Is it loosened primer pockets or inconsistent neck tension. Annealing helps on the neck tension, but isn't going to do squat for the primer pockets.

I have not had any problem with primer pockets, just nech area wear, and some split necks, but I think I get the weak necks from fire forming them
I will try the annealing on my next batch, and see if that solves my problems.
I do get more than 3 reloads on some , just not a lot in my eyes, compared to other things I reload for.
I am not at max loads either, so I do not think pressure is an issue.

thanks for the suggestions, feel free to offer any more you guys might have!
I like to learn, and this sight has tons of experience to learn from!

I have several Ackley improved variations that require fire formed brass. I don't aneal the necks. You can extend the life of the cases by running them through a body die about every 5th firing. Just watch your cases for frosting in the web area and obviously for case neck splits. You sould be able to get about 10 firings out of a batch provided that you are not working the necks too much when resizing.

I see Hart sells 50 fired form cases for $100. Not sure about your die set up may want to have a set made up by Neil Jones Custom Products could save you on annealing etc or send your dies off to JLC here is his site give him a call

Like I said before, not sure your reloading method, but I load for a 30 hart and fireform mine and usually get 6 firings sometimes 8, depends.
