I just got a Remington 700 police 308. I'm having trouble finding our what the twist rate of the barrel is. Any Ideas? Could I call Remington and give them the serial number and get the info? thanks in advance.

Use a cleaning rod with a patch. Shove it in the barrel almost all the way to the muzzle. Pull it back, count the inches it takes to make 1 revolution.

Or, I could just tell you that it is a 10" twist because that is what almost all of Remington's factory 30 cal barrels are.

thanks for the idea. I found an old write up about the gun and the writer said that they came in either 1 to 9 or 1 to 12 and i was thinking thats a big gap. That would be a heavy bullet for a 308 with a 1 to 9.
