Interesting Handgun Auction

Here goes.........

On gunbroker, a seller had a nice XP for sale and he had a Burris posi lock scope on it as well. He had no rating on gunbroker as it was his first auction...... So, not many folks bid on the XP and I wound up with it or almost..........

I sent him an email copy of my dealers FFL and also included a hard copy with the payment so now he has two copies of the same license. This guy runs a construction company in California and I am sure his secretary did all the leg work....

When he sent me the tracking number last night, it did not work. This morning, he sent me a revised number and when I checked it, I found out the pistol was being delivered in the wrong state.... Actually it was being delivered to Atlanta GA instead of Charleston SC......

After a few emails and some checking of the documents at his business, we found out that the secretary had actually sent it to the address on the FFL. Unfortunately it was sent to the regional office of the BATF!

They declined the shipment and now it is on the way back to the sellers UPS facility to do it all over again....... Poor guy didn't have an easy first auction.........

Poor guy!

Poor buyer!!!

It may take a little longer but it if you got a good deal, it will be worth it.

Ernie,

I agree, poor seller. To make matters worse, he did not even charge a shipping and insurance fee. Now he has to pay for three cross country trips at the next day air rate. He probably will never get close to another auction.

Sucks for both parties. Lesson learned for him and an exercize in patience for you.

I bought a rifle off gunbroker a year ago or so and inquired about it after about two weeks and they said they never received my payment. I had gotten signature confirmation so I knew it had arrived. Well, the person in charge of the online sales was on vacation for two weeks and I had to wait until they got back to resolve their screw up. All in all, it took about about 5 or 6 weeks to get my rifle. Needless to say, they did not get an "A+" feedback, gave them a "C".

Be nice to the guy on your feedback since it will be his first one. We need all the people we can get involved in buying and selling guns in light of who the POTUS is now.

Oh Yeah! Once all this is cleared up and the items are received, he will get glowing reviews from me. He is a stand up type of guy based on the emails and phone duscussions I have had with him.. He owns a construction business so he understands how details work out in the long run.

Who knows, this may be the cheapest lesson he learns from the gun trading business. Unfortunately, in real dollars the minimum expense is $277 and the max would be $390 for the next day shipping with insurance for a total of three trips across country.

If everything works out okay, I am probably going to help him with the shipping.

I believe it's an ATF requirement on handguns. AT least that's what the dealer told me when I ordered a revolver they didn't have on the shelf. He said he would order it and it would be there the next day. I was shocked, asked why, and that's what he told me.

There is NO "ATF requirement" to ship handguns next day........that is a company policy, first established by UPS and later adopted by the other common carriers......it started because UPS was losing too many firearms due to employee theft!

The "atf overnight requirement" is a myth!

Experience is the best teacher...........as long as the experience is someone else's.:D

Thanks for sharing.......................and the offer to assist the fella. Thumbs up to ya!
