I want to buy a Browning A-Bolt 12 gauge shotgun with rifled barrel. Either the Stalker model with synthetic stock or wood stock model. Please contact me if you know of one for sale at a reasonable price.

I bought two of these new when they first came out for less than $500.00. I sold one to a friend at that price.
I've been keeping tabs on the going price on GunBroker and the other sites, and they're out of sight. Usually sell between $2,000 and $2,300 for a rifled barrel mint piece.
Good luck in your search.

Because Pa. legalized rifle useage in the southern counties a friend sold his for $350. I didn't know about until deal was done, OUCH!!!!

OK, I had a Black synthetic A-bolt 12 ga rifles slug gun when I lived in Iowa. I gave it to a friend when I moved. Is this what you are refering to and why would they be so high now??

Funny but in a side by side accuracy report on slug guns the Browning fell behind the Marlin and Savage 12 ga. bolt guns.

The Browning has it all over the others when it comes to fit, finish & pride of ownership but if you just want to kill deer then I'd think twice before paying huge sums of money for a second hand Browning. High dollars do not always get you performance. But .............. the Browning sure would be nice to own.

I lived in Iowa most of my life and had to hunt with a shotgun. I hated it until I got the a-bolt. It would put winchester 3" supreme sabots back in the box out to 160 yards.

For cheap, deadly accurate deer killers, the H&R single shot slug guns are hard to beat. My 12 gauge with shoot 3 shot clover leafs at 100 yards with Remington copper solids. My son's 20 gauge does the same with Lightfield Hybrids. Due to the heavy barrels, recoil is not bad at all.

Definitely not a Browning, but possibly a good option for you.

If you dont have any luck finding a Browning - take a look at the Thompson Center 12ga. I have had a lot of luck with mine. I only use it a day or two a year(slug barrel that is). I loan it to friends a lot and it kills deer everytime. Actually that gun has killed more deer than all of my other guns combined, cause I loan it out and it gets a ton of use.

I loaned it out twice last year to friends going hog hunting (overkill). It did the job at many different ranges. Again, the T/C's are a great slug gun.

I do most of my Illinois deer hunting with archery and rarely have a need for a firearm kill. I certainly refuse to pay $2000 for a gun I will use rarely. I have decided to try the Savage 210. I have talked with several slug hunters and they say the Savage will put the slugs down range as accurately as the A-bolt. I am open to any information the slug hunters have to say.

Never pass up the first day what you will take home the last day!!!!gun)

You will find the issue will NOT be the gun!

You simply have to find which slug your gun likes, and they all have definite likes and dislikes.

Brenneke is really touting their new slugs to work in about all guns.

I have used one slug in one gun and got 1.5" three shot groups and the next gun gave me 12" patterns with the same slug.

The ones I have normally had best luck with are the (for rifled barrels) Fed Prem Barnes Expanders, Hornady, and Win Premium Platinum.

The Brennekes will often work in a rifled barrel also.

By the way, the Nikon Shotgun scope with the BDC reticle really works well. Just have to confirm the circle zeros out to either 200 or 250.
