Driver skill and attention declining quicker than new car safety improving. I ride motorcycles and swear over half drivers watching videos on their phone while driving. They're out to kill!
I quit riding motorcycles back in 2001 because of the other drivers. You be careful out there.Driver skill and attention declining quicker than new car safety improving. I ride motorcycles and swear over half drivers watching videos on their phone while driving. They're out to kill!

Quit road bikes in 2014. The crap I would see. Now there's the riders splitting lanes on the freeway. I don't get it.I quit riding motorcycles back in 2001 because of the other drivers. You be careful out there.
Splitting lanes is legal, or was, in some states under certain conditions. But it does **** some people off lol. I had a BWM R80ST (1986?). It was somewhat of a dual sport, street version of the Paris Dakar race model. If i rode again I'd probably want either a sportster or a bagger. The new dual sports would be handy in Oregon though!Quit road bikes in 2014. The crap I would see. Now there's the riders splitting lanes on the freeway. I don't get it.
I miss it, don't miss the drivers. Still contemplating a dual sport.
"If it saves only one life it would be............."I am writing a letter to my congresswoman and my senators. I think they outlaw "assault" vehicles, or could it be the drivers.

Yeah I had some close calls and people actually cut me off to run me off the road. Some other stuff that isn't really fit for discussion. But the most dangerous incidents weren't from splitting lanes. I have a buddy that started riding again in Bend. I'd say you just need to pick your routes and times if possible. I hated riding in a group but it's probably the safest way to ride.I was >50K of road riding when I sold my last bike. Sabre -> Hurricane -> SV
Got so sick of stupid drivers on back roads that the only places I really wanted to go were dirt roads, and the CBR was the most stable on gravel. The SV was super-squirrely but an ideal urban bike.
Splitting lanes is not yet legal here in OR. You *can* ride the shoulder if you're an air cooled bike in gridlock. Even so, I had enough people play chicken with me or try to run me off the road that riding the shoulder was a bad idea at best. One schmuck opening their passenger door and your day goes south fast.
That's a lot of miles on a bike my friend. My motorcycle was my main mode of transportation for years and I didn't put that many miles on mine!I was >50K of road riding when I sold my last bike.
Rode year 'round for ~5 years, a GF in Seattle (150mi) for 6 mos, and another in Eugene (135mi) for 2 years. Good times....That's a lot of miles on a bike my friend. My motorcycle was my main mode of transportation for years and I didn't put that many miles on mine!
IRONMAN!!! I wouldn't want to ride through any icy conditions. In Georgia I got caught in Savannah during hurricane Hugo. I managed to get back to Ft Stewart in the eye of the storm. That wasn't a fun ride.Rode year 'round for ~5 years, a GF in Seattle (150mi) for 6 mos, and another in Eugene (135mi) for 2 years. Good times....
Not out here. I've met guys with 70K miles on their Gold Wings/Interstate, (Honda Couches) etc.IRONMAN!!! I wouldn't want to ride through any icy conditions.
