have remmy l/a what to do?

i have a tomato stake 30/06 barrel on a remmy adl, have bottom metal to make a bdl.
since a new barrel is in order, what should i make ?
i have a 280 already, 2- 300 wsm's, a 300 rum, a 338 rum in the makings still, a barrett .50, and numerous smaller stuff.

i like the bc's of the 6.5 stuff, so i was thinking of a 6.5-06...or another 280, or just going back to a 30-06...

i hunt nm., co., and pa...
most shots are accross canyons, or close, as in whitetails in pa.

well, lets put it this way, if you really didn't need another rifle, but had this laying around, what would you build ???

i have every hunting situation already covered for whatever i intend to hunt wherever it may be....

i want a show rifle, but something i could find a use for..

6.5-284, not that there's anything wrong with a 6.5-06, just like the 6.5-284, although a 6.5 rsaum peeks my intrest as well.....oh hell I don't know, but I'm sure you'll come up with something.

i am in the middle of a new build and it started the same way as yours. i personally have the 7mm s and larger so i didn need one of those eather.i desided to go with the 6.5x284 for the fact the i can get lapua brass and the caliber is so proven. as far as the 6.5x47 that was stated. i shoot the 6x6.5x47 lapua for my f class rifle. in my opinion its the best small caliber on the market. 40 grains of powder + 105 bullet = 3200 fps with the high bc. so im sure that the 6.5 would show some really impressive numbers as will.

I have a 6.5x47 and a 6.5x284 being built right now. in your case I would do the 6.5x284 since you have the long action. Just my opinion.

how about a 338 version of the 300varminter? of course i'm talking about a RUM or a 378WBY case. a slow twist barrel to shoot the 160-180 gr bullets at a rather high rate of speed( trust me, i'm not gonna post a speed i think they would go) a light weight carry gun that would kill like the hammer of Thor!

More velocity than 6.5-284, longer neck, cheap plentyful brass and Lapua brass is also available.

Ok...mayby that carbon credit thing was a bad idea, but not as bad as putting a bbl chambered for a RUM, 378WBY, 416 RIGBY, or any other magnum on a gun with a 308 bolt face....THINK, PEOPLE!!!!! Use your brains.

That's true. but WHY!! How about the mag well? It might be to short. You might have to work on that also.....feed rails....ect, ect. Is this time and money well spent?? Maybe if the action had already been trued or has won eleventeen matches with different bbls. Maybe if he has had it custom bedded to a keeper of a stock. Then again, I would re-bed to the different action.

Trade it, or sell it and buy what you want.
