Nikon 6-18X40 buckmaster

Can someone tell me how many minutes of UP this scope has. I think this for each click on this scope equals 1/8 MOA??? Input would be appreciated!

I just purchased that same scope and it has 50 inches of adjustment at 100 yards (these scopes are set for 1/8 inch at 100, not 1/8 MOA). That means from center, you have 25 inches of adjustment.

Do you think this scope is adequate to sit on top of a 300 WM to go 1000+ yds with?

Adaquate, Possibly. Depending on what you expect out of the scope.

Generally you want to spend as much as you can afford on glass, and when you spend more you gain in precision mechanism, clear glass, and durability. The one I would be worried about is durabilaty. I am not an expert on optics, but I would be leary of putting a buckmaster on a moderate recoil rifle like a 300 for hundreds of rounds if you are expecting precision accuracy. On the other hand, I wouldn't think twice about mounting a Buckmaster or even a prostaff on that rifle if I was not going to shoot past 450 or so.

I think the Monarch would be better suited for that. I put 30 rounds through my 300 WSM with that scope on it to test it since My 22-250 didn't come in yet, but honestly I don't think I will make it a habit of mounting that scope on that rifle. I have a Monarch 5.5-16.5 on it usually.

I am quite confident that it will work for now. Hopefully someone more experienced will chime in for you. Good luck, Mark.

Obviously Leupold will do the trick but is there anything else out there that would be better then the buckmaster but cheaper then the loopy???

From what I know, (which isn't much lol) these would be the ones I would look at. Sightron ssII, Bushnell elite 3200 or 4200, Nikon Monarch to name a few. This is just information that I have gotten from quit a bit of reading on this and a couple other sites. You get what you pay for to some extent. I really hope someone else with more experience will chime in and help you out too. In otherwords, don't take my advice to the bank just yet

I have the Target Dot 6-18x40 on my 300WM with a 20MOA base.....it has held zero without a problem and it tracks very well for me. I like the glass for the money and like it better than the equally priced Leupolds, but it is a starter scope and I will eventually end up with 5.5-22x50 NXS.

man this post is really bothering me i put this scope on my Remington sendero 7mm stw i havnt shot it yet i just got it back yesterday from my smith i had a break put on it, trigger job, lugs laped

You shouldn't let it bother you, you only paid about 300 to 350 for the scope? You can't really expect it to keep up with the Mark 4 or the Nightforce can you? I have had several Nikon scopes and they all have preformed exceptional for their price range. I haven't set aside the mucho $ to put on high end glass yet either. My Monarch has prefomed quite well shooting out to 700 yards so far on my30-06 (@700-1000 rds) and now on my 300wsm (@350 rds). Most of the rounds were fired at 100 and 200 yards of course

I have experience with 5 of the 6-18X40 Nikon Buckmasters. 3 of them mine and 2 belong to friends. I have seen these scopes on 17HMR, 222 Rem, 270WSM, 7mm-08, 7mm STW, 300WM and possibly a few others. 2 of mine are the older AO model, and the other is a side focus. My friends have one of each. When my buddy first started shooting his AO model he experienced about a half dozen rounds that the scope didn't track when it was adjusted. Just every now and again. That problem healed up pretty quickly (burr?). Other than that everything else has been favorable. When I purchased mine they were discontinuing the AO model and I picked them up just under $250 each. So I figured what the heck! And then about a year later they had a sale to get rid of a bunch of demos and the new model went on sale for about $260, so I bought another. I will say I prefer my Leupolds and certainly trust them more than the Buckmasters. But so far the Bmasters haven't given me a bit of trouble.

i had one of the old ao on my 300rum with no break for 300 plus rounds with no trouble. it's now on my 17hmr and still works fine. only thing i don't like about them is the + is to thick for me. for 269.00 on eBay that's a hard price to beat

Your right about the crosshair being thick. But for the price it is very good.
