I have a new to me Tikka T3 in .243 win which of course has a 1:10 twist. My previous .243 had a 1:9.125 twist and I shot up to 95 grain bullets in it. With this Tikka 1:10 I am going to order up some 87 grain bergers because they are pretty well known to stabilize at that twist. If any of you all are shooting those 87's what powder have you had the best luck with? I have IMR4831, IMR4064, H4350, IMR4895, Varget, you get the picture. I'm not looking for the absolute fastest load, but more the accuracy node with at least fair speed. What powder do you all seem to have the best luck with? Particularly interested in hearing from the Tikka owners.

Thanks Jug96, what powder do you like the best even if not listed?
I like IMR 4451. It's very very similar burn rate to H4350. I started using it when I couldn't find H4350. I shoot 87gr Hornady VMAXs in a factory Remington 700 ADL Varmint. I get 3370fps from my 26" barrel.

Only a 3 shot group but here's what I'm getting out of my Cooper Custom Classic @ 200 yards. 24" 1:10 twist barrel. This is an 85 grain Sierra Gameking (BTHP) over 42 grains of IMR 4350. Sorry - don't know the speed. 18681C08-25E0-4B8B-98E9-E6B1882565AC.jpeg

Thats awesome. Since I am the OP I suppose I can turn the subject back to bullets now, lol. Are you all seeing increased accuracy from the Berger 87's over the Sierra GK 85's?

I haven't shot the Bergers, but I can tell you one thing for sure, besides being accurate in my 243, that little 85 SGK has also done a hell of a job putting down every OK deer that has met with it.

I run 85gn TSX's @ 3200fps from several 22" 243's using 45gn of Ramshot Hunter. Very similar burn rate to 4350 but will meter through a Culver style dispenser or a Dillon powder measurer +/- .1gn. I'm .9gn and ~125fps under max but that load shoots very well though a Kimber, Rem Mt Rifle, standard weight Rem, Rem M7's, and several Win M 70 Fwt's. ES in the teens and single-digit SD.
