Nosler releases 27 Nosler and more

Berger's already got the 170 eol. 270 in some new cartridge was bound to happen. Of all of them, 28 nosler would be my pick if there were only one. I don't have a 28 nos. But I do have a 7mm stw, 7mm just seems to take the most advantage in a super over bore cartridge. I push 180 eld's @ 3189 fps braked in a 14lb rifle and it's very tolerable. It's my guess that you could run a 168 ablr in a 28 nosler up against the 165 ablr in a 27 nosler and it would be a really close race. 27 should win out ballisticly but not by much at all. I like the nosler line of cases. Lots of folks wanted a 277 cal cartridge set up for long heavies. I guess nosler decided they would give it to them. Can't complain about that. Cudos to nosler.

And now the real conundrum, what's the 25 nosler gonna look like??!
It's bound to happen at some point or the other. I always wanted a 257 weatherby but I don't want to build it myself or spend much on one. I don't want to buy a factory 10 twist 257wby either. 257&264 is so close to each other, it seems like why bother? For the same token: .277 cal .284 cal, pretty close together also. But what the hey, go for it.

If it's the same parent case as the 28, it will probably smoke both of those, at least 150 fps, maybe 200 fps over the 270 wby with the same sized bullets. Just my guess.
I believe they used the 30 nos as the parent, but yes will still beat all existing 270s handily especially with the proper twist for 165-170s

Should make the 270 fans happy. Its fine with me. Hunters get infatuated with certain calibers. I guess I'm just as guilty of that my self.

Will probably be short if shot consecutively often. Definitely not going to be a good match cartridge if the match consists of more than 3 shots per person, lol.

I believe Broz can confirm that with his "Executive Order."

That's a shame too: I was hoping they would at least last as long as a WM.

My STW is in the same boat. I just took load development slow and easy. Had other rifles to shoot when I was doing it. I never shoot more than two rounds back to back anymore. I always have at least two other rifles to shoot while it sits for a while. Super velocity & barrel life just don't seem to go hand in hand together. Im fairly brutal on my 6.5 cm. It's got a nut on the barrel, shouldnt take long to slap another barrel on it, if I ever have to.

800 round will last me a lifetime or until they come out with something different than conveitonal ammunition to hunt with. I figure that the best cartridge available in our present time with be the equivalent of a muzzle loader in another 25 years.
