Bias in the ELR Central reporting of the "World Record Event"?

Nate Statler finished the day with the official ELR record of 2011 yards

Paul and John tied in the morning at 1550 and Nate did 3 for 3 at 1768 as well. But Nate was the only to run 3 for 3 and at 2011 yards in the afternoon.

Well, that adds to the intrigue about bias reporting. Why no mention of making 2011 later in the day in the report at: http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2018/01/first-elr-central-long-range-record-match-in-nevada/

Where is @DocUSMCRetired when we need him to clear this up?

With all due respect, the only thing "bias" or "creepy" here is your obsession with continually calling foul. The only one who appears to have some kind of agenda is you. If there is some underlying agenda by others it will become obvious to everyone in due time but with you continually crying foul with nothing but your opinion to substantiate your claim/s, you are the only one that comes off as having any kind of bias.

Usually if you want to do a bias check on AB the best place is to see what Frank at snipers hide is saying, his take is interesting and looks like a lot of the same guys whining here only since Frank has been sitting in on all this and makes no bones about how things actually go down things get shut down quickly.
It seems everything but the shoot is important here!!

Plenty of bias on this site.
It runs rampant and some that disagree with Fred will be biased in other aspects.
I'm not immune we all do it.
I like Savage rifles
Stihl chainsaws and Dodge trucks. If you engage me on the matters, you'll quickly see I'm biased!!

I don't think Fred is biased. I think some standardization is in order on these events, and they can work on their interviewing skills. Maybe these threads can help motivate them for change.
I'm thinking the NRA or a like organization of manufacturers can standardize these events. AMO and IBO comes to mind in the Archery game.

But until then.... My house, my rules. If you don't like it, go down the road and shoot.


At the end of the day, we need to discuss this without hitting the ignore button because someone is outspoken on a subject.

imo There's few, very few unbiased articles. Go write something: you inject yourself into the writing, it's called 'your voice' and is just the way it is and what makes us human.

This is just my view. Calling it an "obsession" is even more biased than the reporting.

Finally an understandable answer:

Editor: The story was compiled by our staff based on 1/21/2018 same-day postings by Applied Ballistics and David Tubb. We also have communicated with Paul Phillips, Bryan Litz, and others present at the match. We also have considerable input from The 6.5 Guys, who attended the match in Pahrump. As for the author — it was a collective effort from numerous sources. If you read our Bulletin regularly you will note that 95% of our stories are not bylined.

I'm all confused.

I thought that each shooter started close then progressed when successful at the closer distance. I surely must be wrong in my understanding.

Would not the 2011 yard success trump anything at a lesser range?

Why would a 1500 yard "record" even exist?

Roy, it exists because it was the first, it's not a format where at the end the top is crowned, each guy up has a chance in that moment to raise the bar. Super simple format.

I understand better what David Tubbs posted someplace:

Congratulations to my son-in-law, Nate; Sunday he won the ELR Central World Record competition. This competition allows two separate attempts (spaced 4 hours apart) and consists of 3 (cold bore )shots each time. He took 3 shots and had 3 hits at 1768 yards in the morning and then beat his own record in the afternoon with 3 shots and 3 hits at 2011 yds after the wind had become trickier. Target size is 36in x 36in.
Nate uses the new Tubb Adaptive Target Rifle (Tubb gun) with a Dynamic Targeting Reticle and Tubb T7T two stage trigger. He is shooting a .375 Cheytac with a 364gr Warner flatline bullet that has a patent pending Nose Ring modification in a Schneider 7 twist barrel.

I'm not biased, yeah right!, but how could Nate have succeeded in this with a peckerwood 375 Chytac and not use a CEB projectile and with a Schneider bbl. That goes against all of the promotions I've seen, ,,lately.

David Tubb was at the K02M match. He made a 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th @ 1543 Y, all 3 shots @ 1722 Y, but had zero hits (no score) @ 1888 Y. I did not see Nate's name on the roaster, but he could have been his (David Tubbs) spotter?

At the ElR I thought I read it was four (4) hours.

I am sure if they talked to anyone there the 2011 yard record would have come up.
I talked to someone at the event and that is the 1st thing that came up. Pretty big detail to leave out.
That and Nate had the balls and skills to go to 1768 right out of the box while others started at 1500(which I do not consider ELR)

@royinidaho I think now is the most interesting time in this, everyone is still shaking things out with regards to equipment which is what I enjoy the most. Most guys I know prepping for these matches are shooting different things super fun to see where different guys are going with their builds!! The next couple years is going to be fun!!
