200 Gr. Eld-x 300WM Reloading

I am trying to believe all the hype that is going on with the new Hornady Eld-X line. I recently bought a box of 200 gr. ELD-X (Precision Hunter) for my Remington 700P and shot a 2" group at 100 yards. Not acceptable. I am going to reload my own ammunition now with the same bullet. Has anybody had any luck with this bullet and what kind of groups are you getting? How is the performance down range?

I'm using the 212 in my 300 RUM and they are not difficult to tune. They are jump tolerant and they are physically consistent. The 212s tuned in for me at .095" off the lands.

What kind of groups are you getting? That way I know what I can expect

Mine printed a 1.2" 4 shot at 330 yards with single digit ES to finalize load development.

Yes but I should have also stated that they didn't shot that we'll at mag length which was around .060" jump.
Had to load them a little longer at a .035" jump to get it sub moa.

I worked up a load of 79 grains H-1000 in Hornady brass with CCI large rifle mag primers seated to 3.45" C.O.L. in a 26" browning A-Bolt for a friend of mine. They were still WAY off the lands, had to be seated to 3.7???" to touch the lands, so there was some freebore. Chronoed 3010 fps average, about 20fps spread in 8 rounds. Not perfect, but he needed rounds quickly and he isn't stretching the rifle much past 400-500 yards. Shot about MOA, I believe they could be tweaked more to perform better, we were on a time crunch.

I don't know if he still calls me his friend though after shooting them, those things kicked like a mule in his un-braked sported weight rifle.

That's what handloading is all about, finding what your particular rifle like best.

I'm trying them in my 300 RUM (bartelein 25.5" 5R), and not doing that well. I'm averaging 1.25" (3 shots/100 yds), 90gr H1000, Norma/215M. I've seen best accuracy (though not consistent) at 0.090" off lands. I'm still working on them, but may go back to Berger for the accuracy/consistency.

I really want them to work; their cheaper than Berger and I like the idea of controlled expansion.
