Looking for suggestions for a minor problem with my 243 loads. I worked up a load using 7828SSC and a 62gr varmint grenade looks like I have good potential abut it groups oddly 2 rounds touching then two more touching approx .75-1 moa high and left. Is it a bedding problem or something else? Can't be the scope because I've changed scopes twice.

7828 is ment for large cap cases, (7rm, 300wm, 338wm, ect).
Maybe you should go with varmint, IMR3031, IMR4007ssc or H414

I use Varget for the small bullets myself and it has done really well. What stock do you have on it? I've had similar effects and have narrowed it down to shooting fatigue or lack of concentration on form.

Alberta- what rifle? scope? i generally use varget and I4064 for bullets 90 and under. besides those, H4895 and benchmark.

Just the factory stock

Weatherby vanguard with a bushnell DOA. As for using other powders its nearly impossible to find powder here in Canada, most sporting goods stores are down to a couple pounds of odd ball with no idea for arrival of back orders. I Got the load data for 7828SSC off reloaders nest. Great tool for reloaders

How far are you off the lands? (1st) i would seat the bullet out to .030 off the lands if it fits the mag and had enough bullet still in the case neck. . ( 2nd) I would try changing to a 210M or br-2 primer . (3rd) i would use an extreme powder, medium burning rate powder between H4350 and benchmark; since i believe you live in a cold place . the exception to that would be I4064 i use it a lot in .243; it is not an extreme powder but i have had great results with it. before i changed any of the loading, i would make sure the barrel was clean and all scope mounts and stock screws tight.

I have the same gun. I suffered poor patterning when I got mine and free floated the barrel and bedded the recoil lug. I found that the torque on the stock screws can also have a significant change on POI and precision so I torque mine to 20 inch/lbs and check often. Too much more torque and it starts to bend the stock.

Thanks for the tips. I'll give those a try this weekend. But honestly since my coyote fur season has ended (most dogs I'm seeing are looking rough and the prices are starting to slip too) I'll be switching to my Berger 90gr for busting LR dogs and Pasteur poodles. That gives me lots of time to work up another good fur friendly load for next season

Well I've abandoned the Bergers, I was working up a load for my wife's savage muddy girl using a hornady 87gr SP and IMR 4350 and thought I'd try it thru my vanguard. Printed 5 rdsa into 3/8" @ 100 yds think I've found a great load one load for dogs and deer in both my rifle and my wife's.

You need a faster powder like IMR 4064 or 4895 for that light of a bullet. IMR 7828 will work in a .243 if you have a 26" barrel and you're shooting 100+ grain slugs, but that's about it.

Alberta Guide, I found IMR 4350 and 87 gr. V-Max Hornady bullets Win. LR Standard primers, Is what my 243 loves, My rifle likes H4831 with 100 105 bullets. Happy Loading.

I also shoot IMR 4350 with an 87gr V-MAX ignited by a Winchester LR primer. That load goes 3250fps in my rifle and shoots excellent. This is the only thing I've shot in my rifle besides a few 105 A-MAXs. I've never loaded for light bullets in a .243, but I know you will need fast powder to do it right.
