I remember reading about this guy; He was the only serious competition Tubb had for a while. Then he just disappeared. Anyone have any idea where he went?

He hangs out from time to time over on long-range.com. I'm not certain of his exact situation... think he goes back and forth between USA & Oz/NZ or something like that.

I have shot with Michell in the NRA nationals before and I know he had moved from the USA. He is a good competitor and seemed to be a nice guy. Boonie hat and all. Do not where he is today.

Hi All , I'm in New Zealand , great place to do a lot of hunting year round ,, if you have lots of money. Cost of living has gone up about 300% in the last 15 years , getting a bit too rich for my blood. Any ways missing the US and the fine shooting competitions there .\,

Lot are missing in that picture. So how you doing these days ? Have taken up pistol lately because of a screwed up NZ NRA thats here. See numbers have fallen off in the US at Camp Perry 278 for the XTC , thats insane in the mid 90's it was 850+.

Doing OK Mitch! Haven't fired a Registered NRA Match since '94. When 'they' all changed over to the rat rifle.....well...that did me in for XTC! Mike Dunia has invited me to come try out for the Veteran's Team but betwixt making ball games for my grandkids and honeydo jobs...just don't have the time! And maybe...I just got tired of running the roads attending matches! Got my own facility here at home....1000 yard line is only 500 yards from where I'm typing this so.....shooting is not a problem! I can't say I blame you for leaving the USA! It's not the same place we grew up in! Take care....HOLD HARD & STAY CENTER!!

Well the rose garden here when the same way ! Insurance , council rates and gas have all risen 300% since I came here , it is now the 5th most expensive country to live in ! They had 68 NZ'ers in their NZ National last year in the Target Rifle category, about 117 in total many foreign and TR-F & F class shooters. As your aware they only had 6 countries in the International Fullbore event in Brisbane in 2011. Think ICFRA has 40+ associate countries which means that they are in it only because of the scoped events like they just had in Raton which did have a large diversity of international competitors. NZ is not only losing shooters but also ranges, in 2006 the average age was 56-57. I've researched demographics and the kids under 25 there is only a 10% retention. With that age bracket being very low and the nasty politics the combination are thinning out the ranks . Hate to say it but the US NRA has screwed up Camp Perry so bad it will never recover. Hope you read the latest report in the Shooting Sports about pistol shooters and the projected graph of where it will be in 2030. Something has to change quickly and it involves the membership getting involved and doing the directing. If we wait much longer there is a no recovery point for the sport, we may have already crossed it .

In my opinion when F-Class was born and introduced into the program....that was the demise of XTC shooting! I'm glad that we cut the heart out of and had the best shooting and comp that ever has been! 90% or better of folks these days don't have a clue how to use a good set of aperture sights!

They sing a song in church of PRECIOUS MEMORIES!!
