Groups out of a carbon barrel

Many stock factory rifles show this pretence for first cold bore shot to be 'out' of the group. I had one such REM 700 Sendero in 300WM that did this from day one. Did bedding, torqued action screws and played with action screw torque to no avail. Took the barrel off in frustration and found...

    6.5 LRM

I wouldn’t bother with a 6.5LRM, I would do a Norma Improved. I have an affinity with 416 Rigby based cartridges, the powder capacity and shoulder size being wider, helps protecting the throat, 35° and 40° angles work best, but for really large charges of powder, a 45° works the best in 30cal...

    285 ELDM Experience Needed

To be honest with you, no Hornady bullet has met my strict conditions for ELR, not even the A-max. I only use custom CNC turned bullets for ELR and I do not hunt at ELR distances, which to me starts at a mile. I have taken game at 808 metres, have had opportunities at 1100 metres, myself and...

    This group looks promising.

    Aim small, miss small…

    This group looks promising.

1/4" group is excellent. If it's fully repeatable and stable, I wouldn't be touching anything on that rifle and I'd probably glue it into it's stock…just saying. Cheers.

    300wsm powder for 205 Berger ? Help

I would stick with H4350 unless you can find H4831sc. When running 25-300WSM & 65-300WSM, I had best results with RE25. Not temp stable, but it didn’t swing like RE22. Cheers.

    7mm stw

I still form mine from either 375 H&H or from 300/340 Weatherby. I prefer to use Remington brand 300 Weatherby as it forms easier. I have never cracked or lost a case doing so. I form many full length cases from H&H brass. If unprimed brass was available to me, I would use 6.5-300 Weatherby...

    Reloader 26/Short Barrels

It has nothing to do with individual cases and #lots of powder. What it means is the powder burn rate is not CONSTANT across cartridges or even bore sizes. Burn rate charts are a joke and not accurate in any way, they are a very rough guide as to what MAY be similar. Anyway, this is well...

Why is Rel 26 so great??

You are correct, the kernel is perforated, most are single perforation, but some have multiple perforations. H50BMG has several. Many powders are hard to see the perforation due to it being covered by graphite coatings. Cheers.

Why is Rel 26 so great??

I already outlined the differences. Working for Thales (ADI) for several years, the maker of both Double base and Single base powders, there are 2 common powder types, Divergent, which means the powder, mostly Ball, but Flake too, gets smaller in surface area until consumed. The entire surface...

Why is Rel 26 so great??

The description of Progressive has nothing to do with burn rate. There is no difference in burn rate as you describe, faster or slower is simply the rate at whichever burns faster or slower, this is changed in several ways, kernel size, size of hole/s in the kernel, kernel length then we get...

Why is Rel 26 so great??

We have Digressive (Ball powders, they get smaller as they burn) and Progressive (They burn inside and outside at the same time). There is no non-progressive powders we use in small arms ammunition other than Flake powders used in shotguns. The real difference we have is Single base and Double...

Thoughts on most consistent loading dies

Have you measured necks with/without the expander in place? Have you measured runout on said cases? Their expanders are junk…their stems are also junk, no thought for precision ANYWHERE in the design… Cheers.

    Remington 700 22-250 riveted extractor

No, the bolts are milled differently unfortunately. Cheers.

    264 win mag reamer?

Design your own with Manson, mine is based on the A191 spec reamer, shoulder growth is less and the throat is .220” long for use with 150+g class bullets. Manson or Clymer for SAAMI Match reamers. Cheers.
