I agree, and if we do that you don't need $3000 of gear to tell you where to hold. Zero at 200 there's not much guess work to 300. 50 or so years ago 300 yd with K4 Weaver scope and no rangefinder was a long shot.
With that old gear 300 yards is still a hard shot. Likely being taken with an off the shelf rifle shooting off the shelf ammo. All of which put in a lot of unknows and accuracy issues, even today. I'll take my 1/2 MOA rifle with my BR2 and lots of practice to narrow the chances even at 300 yards. ;-)
