Youth Hunting - Part 1 - The Smiles & the Memories

Here are some pics of my boy over the years. He loves to hunt and fish. He is just now getting to where he wants to try archery elk hunting.

So over the couple years now this thread has been up I've put pics of my sons and their friends hunting . Since this has started me and my wife have adopted 4 children , two separate sets of siblings . The first being a set of brothers and just recently and 8 year ol boy and his 2 year old little sister. Needless to say she rules the roost we've never had a little girl at all . And ol daddy is a sucker for her .
Anyhow so yesterday was the first day of Wv gun season I took the 8 year old out . He done pretty good . Shot a young button buck right through the shoulders . It went maybe 40 yards straight down the hill dead on its feet . Those 60 gr partitions do a number on whitetail deer .

Well God bless you n your wife for the adoptions…..I have multiple nieces n nephews that are adopted and 2 brothers n 2 sisters also adopted and it takes a lot of wisdom and patience and my hat is off to you……sorry for the derail.
spending one on one hunting is excellent n that was a great shot !!

Jack my 8yo took this GA buck on Thanksgiving morning. We were watching a big clear cut. He killed it @ 650yds with a Seekins 6.5prc and nightforce, 143eldx. He has shot rocks and steel out to 500yds but never shot an animal over about 100yds. He knows very well the importance of not rushing and making a good shot and I reminded him of that when he got behind the rifle. So with zero wind I ranged/dialed for him and said a little prayer. He was very patient waiting for him to turn perfectly broadside and he made a perfect high shoulder shot. Deer ran about 40yds and piled up. Talk about one pumped up 8yo. It's the best deer he has killed. We are both thankful and blessed.
