YOUR COLDEST HUNT?

-25 elk hunting in Montana is the coldest I can recall. Late November can be brutal. Lot of morning leaving the ranch at negative temps, but usually warms up nicely as the sun crests the mountains.

You don't want it to warm up to much in the sun because it will unfreeze that gumbo and makes it really hard to get around. You have to keep looking for the prickly pear cactus to scrap your boots clean. LOL

I try and avoid sub zero hunts. Or if I do it it's close to the truck. I've got really bad raynauds so even in early Sept on elk wallows in the shade my hands go numb.
Lots of handwarmers and mittens.

I remember going out in windchill -40 and shooting 2 deer with a bow.
Wind was blowing so hard deer never heard the bow string and just stood there.
Knife froze to the deer when gutting them.

The coldest I have worked outdoors is -45 with -85 wind-chill in the 1970's in Minnesota. I have hunted at -20. But I will not go out anymore if temp or wind-chill is -15 or more. I also used to cross-country ski in cold weather.
