XP Rear Action Screw Mounting

Ok we have tried a few different ways to secure the rear screw for an XP in. McMillan stock. What have all of you found to be the best most secure way.

I am of no help here.

I am not even safe with a dremel tool

just order some 8/32 screws. Common tap size.

Fastenal has a good selection.

Or do you mean how to hold the stock?

Plywood in your mill or drill press vise works.

I was talking about where the rear screw goes down through the bottom of the action. In the factory stock it uses the T-nut but in the McMillan stocks it's just a block of aluminum and an not overly thick one. Thinking I would like a more substantial way to mount the back of the action since it is going to be a 30 Nosler.

Tap the aluminum block with the 8x32, just like Chris said

Tap the rear block. I have built much larger and lighter guns tapping the block.

Tapping the block as suggested works just fine. I've shot some big guns and its a non-issue
